    Christoph Freund has confirmed that Leon Goretzka will leave FC Bayern in the summer and that his contract will not be extended. The club have had open and honest talks with the midfielder about his future, making it clear that his time in Munich will come to an end after this season

    After eight successful years at the club, Goretzka will take a new path. Freund emphasized that everyone will remain fully focused and united in the coming months to fight for major achievements together L

    * Freund: "We spoke openly with Leon about what happens in the summer. We can now say that Leon's time at FC Bayern will be over in the summer. He will go another way after 8 successful years. We'll fight together in the coming months to achieve big things"

      Man that team was so great. The biggest thing for me was that they won Champions league on my birthday

      Thanks to that team and Goretzka for giving the best present possible.

      He has no chance within the new team, so it makes sense for him, to go to la liga / PL or Serie A to get more playtime and also a better representation for the national team. He is also getting older, so i see him 3 good years in another country to go to MLS afterwards. Happy he was part of the best bayern team we ever had, but we need to be honest, there is no place for him in the young generation bayern.

      In midfield, we have so many exciting options for filling future squad spots. The positions of backup striker, right-back, and, if UPA doesn’t extend his contract, center-back will be particularly interesting.

      Always loved Goretzka. Sometimes I thought his mindset was working against him and he couldn’t unleash the beast. Wish him all the best on his journey and I hope to see him in the PL.

      Best solution imo. He is a great guy but he is also getting olde. In this way there will be a deserved last chapter at the club and a warm goodbye.

      Was one of the best since he arrived but sadly couldn’t catch the 2017 confed cup performance even in 2020. Still grateful and was one of my top favorite player (still playing in bayern) after Kimmich.
