West Ham United are closing in on signing Adama Traore on a permanent deal from Fulham.
The 30-year-old winger is to be reunited with head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, who coached Traore between 2018-21 at Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Athletic reported in the Transfer DealSheet in December that Nuno was strongly considering signing Traore in the January transfer window.
The attacker, who has made 15 appearances for Fulham this season, is set to become West Ham’s fourth addition this month following the €20million (£17.4m, $23.4m) arrival of Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente, Taty Catellanos from Lazio and loanee Keiber Lamadrid from Venezuelan side Deportivo La Guaira.
Traore has spent much of his career in the Premier League, making 262 appearances in the competition, scoring 14 goals and providing 27 assists.
Igor Julio’s season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion is also set to be ended early, with the 27-year-old returning to to the south coast club as cover on the left side of defence. The Brazilian was signed by former manager Graham Potter, who Nuno succeeded in late September. Igor only made four league appearances, totalling 103 minutes. He was not named in the matchday squad for last Saturday’s 3-1 home victory against Sunderland.

I really hope we’ve got a CB lined up cause going back to 3 CBs for the run-in is asking for trouble.
In general, we’ve made the squad much smaller this window. 17 outfield players seems a huge risk. We’ve been fairly lucky with injuries so far. We’ve left ourselves a couple away from being right in the shit.
Super sub? Because he’s not displacing Summerville or Bowen
Hope Igor leaving means that we’re getting a CB in. Otherwise we’re only left with 3 senior CBs with Mavro, Todibo and Kilman. 2 CBs if you exclude the liability that is Kilman.
I know we need wingers but a guy whose 30 and has scored 14 league goals. Come on. “We will take us to the next level”. Sod off Brady and Goblin.
And now we’re in the unenviable position where we can’t get next level signings because we’re in the mire and playing championship football next year.
Absolutely terrific forward planning you fucking donkeys.
Fulham fans celebrating
He is good cover, does anyone really think we are going to get a Bowen level player to sit on the bench as cover for Bowen or Summerville.
He will certainly give a tired defense a lot of trouble.
Nuno wanted him so I don’t see an issue..
