Over three hundred miles travelled for the away fans to see the Mags. After a ten game winning run through the winter, a 1-4 home loss to Bournemouth the previous weekend had shocked the Geordie faithful.

Six points for the season Southampton took the lead, after Bednarek’s early header.

Isak was then felled in the box and equalised with the subsequent penalty.

Minutes later, a pinpoint pass from Murphy, saw Isak control with a great touch and slot past McCarthy for his thirteenth goal in ten games (Future Mag Ramsdale was injured for this game).

The third and final goal came early in the second half, after calm passing out from the back, which saw Schär launching a long ball to Isak, who headed to Tonali, which started a volleyed passing move between Gordon and Isak, to put through Tonali one on one to slot it in the corner.

The away end (myself included) serenaded the team at full time, but primarily sang the name of Miggy Almiron amid rumours of a departure from the club in the January transfer window.
