I hope the Ozcan element is a loan rather than permanent, he was extremely highly rated before he joined. Otherwise I think this is good business for us.

Shit terms, but needs must.
Welcome home Tammy!
Him, Mings and Onana in the box is going to give teams a headache…
fusrohdab on
Feel like it’s an overspend in general without even accounting for Ozcan going the other way. Mental bit of business imo, really dont understand our transfers sometimes.
Shreddonia on
Welcome home, king. Look forward to seeing what Emery can do with him, and having another quality homegrown striker available is real good for us. Him and Watkins in the same squad is gonna be fun.
Shame to see Ozcan go, but it’s clear he was never gonna settle here, and it felt over the summer like Mosquera had overtaken him as a LCB prospect for us.
Good move for all parties, I think.
Ok_Amphibian_8219 on
Glad we’re finally getting a striker in, but I’m a bit disappointed about Ozcan going tbh.

Eh
But welcome back Tammy
loveonthedole on
Well, if we look at the deal as Malen out, Tammy in – what we’ve essentially done is made a small profit in swapping a player who wasn’t suited for our team into one who hopefully is. No, it’s not a particularly exciting transfer – but we clearly don’t have cash to spend right now.
His goal record is obviously not ideal, but if anyone can get a striker firing, it’s Unai. I’m excited to see where this goes.

Wow. So this is effectively costing us more than we’ll get for Malen?

Absolutely delighted! Welcome home, bab.

This is an insane overpay my goodness. Hope he does well but when we start complaining that we can’t buy players due to PSR I’d like to point to paying €21m + a player for Tammy Abraham in 2026.

Welcome home my sweet prince. Actually more buzzing about this than I expected.

Bizarre business.

Not a world beating transfer but its a relatively meagre fee for an English striker that even if moderately successful we could still turn a modest profit on, even at 30, for instance.
13 goals this season at a goal every 145 ish mins, 10 last, still at better than a goal every 2 games… then a write off season, 9 the year before, 27 in 22/23.
Even in his last English season he scored 12 at 1 every 127 mins
The man can score goals and seems like an Emery player

Jeez I had to look at the text to figure out who that’s supposed to be. What an awful Photoshop 🤣

Not totally sure about it but he’s obviously a bit of a cult hero after our promotion season.
He looked decent at Chelsea the season after that (before he got pushed down the pecking order) and he’s been fairly solid everywhere he’s gone.
We’ll see what Unai can cook up with him I suppose.
bambinoquinn on
That price seems absolutely insane, especially as theyve turned a profit on him and brought in someone who will likely go into their first team
Subject-Addendum-199 on
20m for Tammy is insane, 28, ACL injury putting him out for 9 months and 12 goals in 3 years.
craig_hardwick on
Looks like Tammy had a stroke in that pic, we will see how it plays out trust in Unai

Overs. Guess this is how desperate of a situation we’re in though. Am happy to have Tammy back

Kind of crazy how much money we’ve put up for someone who they couldn’t sell 4 months ago.
Ozcan we paid something like €8M for and he’s been tacked on the top as well. Mindblowing.
But that’s the last time I’ll mention this caus I’m actually genuinely excited to have Tammy Abraham back at VP.
Rickcampbell98 on
I think I’ve noticed how insulated some of our fans are tbh, some people seem to be excited about this based on his season with us 7 years ago in the championship lol. I just hope his wages aren’t too large because I don’t know about spending this money on him.
ActiveBloodyDiarrhea on
Eesh, that’s a massive overpay, Besiktas have really bent us over there. Still, I’m glad it’s done now instead of scrambling around until deadline day, the sooner we can get him playing the better.

We need depth. This is good depth. Just need to bring in a DM for coverage for the glass we have playing there and a RB would be nice too but we’ve said that forever

i will trust emery on this one. there’s a reason he’s one of the best professional football managers in the world, and i’m not. always nice to have one of our old lads come home!

Dreams of Mateta were fun while they lasted
Loved Tammy in the promotion season, and was disappointed when we didn’t sign him at the time, but can’t get excited about him now based on his goal scoring record over the last 4 seasons.

Little more expensive than I would have liked to be honest – I was expecting ~€20m reduced by a bit if we sent a player the other way but considering it’s realistically only a couple of Million more than I thought it would be I suppose I can’t complain *too* much.
I think the bigger worry is going to be over his wages – if Tammy was happy to take a bit of a wage cut to be on a similar wage to someone like Buendia I think we’ve done well in that regard.
I’m not too worried about losing Ozcan, there will always be cheap, young players with potential that we can go after and I think Tammy will contribute more than Ozcan would have – certainly in the short term.
It feels good to have a competent back-up striker again to be honest – and hopefully Tammy can be a difference maker when we need him
MichaelBealesBurner on
Holy fucking overpay.
Every single year we don’t make the squad younger heading towards a cliff in a couple of years, yeah Tammy is younger than Ollie but in football terms his body probably has more miles on it.
I get we are living in the moment and doing everything to satisfy Emery which is working right now but you do sometimes think we need to maybe not make these types of deals
Ohggg on
This seems like a really bad deal. Hope I’m pleasantly surprised. I’ll support him like I support all our players but I think we should be doing better than this.

Your regular reminder that buying strikers is really fucking hard.
You wanna sign Wissa for £60M? Gyokeres for £70M. Isak at £120M. Sesko?
Not really setting the world alight. Some banter player from Europe that some YouTube highlights clip made look amazing?
We’re operating in a limited market with limited resources. I think it’s a good deal.
The_Funky_JJ on
So to sign Tammy, it’s cost us 35m ish worth of players? Or malen plus 8m to look at it another way? That’s mad. It doesn’t feel that good unless Tammy turns up and becomes twice the player Malen was 🤷♂️. Happy to have made a signing of course but just looking at the detail it just feels… unfair?
