I do worry about Trippier and Joelinton playing again so soon I can’t lie.

As strong as we can expect May except trips. Probably see Miley come on at some point.
Gordon needs to produce tonight

Interesting that he’s turned to Wissa instead of giving Woltemade back to back starts. Team is as expected.

Trips needs a big game as he got the shout over Miley

Barnes on the right 🥀

Don’t see the point on Barnes on the right, he’s so ineffective there. We’ve spent £55m on Elanga and the only way he’ll turn it around if he gets a run of games.

Miley over Tonali, surely.

Thought he might have rotated a bit more given we aren’t desperate for a win. Hopefully we’ll get a good lead going into the 2nd half and make a few changes then.

Barnes on the right it still yet to work

My only observation is that’s the most 1-11 numbers in a starting XI for a while

Bench is reverting to injuregeddon season levels again. 5/4 split of 1st team and others is showing the cracks in the squad.

Joelinton player better when he’s fresh and had a rest and he’s not had a rest lately, Worried about Trippers pace.

Trippier already looks knackered, tbh I’d start Miley for the big games until Livramento comes back. I think his best days are well behind him unfortunately.
HWTL!

So Barnes will be shuffled over to the right to accommodate Gordon for no good reason again. Also Trippier over Miley is certainly a choice after how bad Trippier was against Wolves

Trips is too slow and Gordon playing means that Eddie will have him on the left instead of an in form Barnes. Maddness!

No real surprises, as predictable as expected. I understand Miley needing a rest but you could drop a number off those picked tonight too have him in instead. Barnes on the right has never worked great and Gordon doesn’t justify yet another start on the left ahead of Barnes. Elanga needs games and starts, show a bit of confidence in him to atleast give him the confidence to begin with. Ramsey, although he had a slow start, started to pick up some momentum and ended back on the bench. I know Howe has his more trusted players but you can guarantee Burn won’t have that same period of coming back slowly into the squad, surprised he hasn’t been picked with broken ribs

Run the boys into the ground. Plus their speedster on the left is going to have fun

Is anyone in any way confident that we can score a goal with Wissa up front?
He’s yet to show anything that shows he could be even a good level centre forward, let alone Champion’s League level. Poor touch, no pace, no strength, terrible passing, no composure, poor finishing…. He can make the odd good run in behind but every time his poor first touch ruins it. He looks an absolute waste of money and he’s already 29.
(Hopefully this will immediately provoke an incredible performance to shut me up!)

At this point, I’m not sure what Gordon would need to do to be dropped.
Presumably there nothing on earth that would make that happen, including having a better player/more in form player available in Barnes play in that position and have Gordon on the bench.

Solid starting XI, with good options to bring off the bench 60-70mins into the game. With home advantage, hopefully enough to get the 3 points and have everything to play for next week.

I do not agree with Wissa starting but it is what it is

Biggest concern in Tripps at back rather than Miley. Maybe need someone to remind Tripps that there’ll be coeds watching and that’ll get him to run faster. Unfortunately am teaching calc iii during the first half so here’s hoping I have something good to see when that’s done. HWTL!!!

Pretty surprised that Miley didn’t get the start here… any theories as to why that might be? Surely our strongest available lineup would be with Miley at RB instead of Trippier…
SecureChampionship10 on
Complete refusal to rotate the team, lessons aren’t being learned unfortunately.
It’s horrible because I really want Howe to work out and there are aspects of management where he’s phenomenal and has the results to back them up, but then in other aspects he’s naive and short-sighted.
Maybe this line-up is the best one to get the three points tonight, but is it the best with our fixture congestion?
