  1. VAR had nothing to do with the call. Play to the whistle. If one of the city players put a tackle in there would have been no argument. I’m a UTD fan so I’m not arsed, just her ready for another rule change.

  2. I like how people are suddenly confused that offside is subjective when it literally happened a week ago between Wolves and Liverpool, when Salah was offside behind the defender when the ball was played to him. Argument would have been had Salah not been there, defender could have just let the ball run to the keeper then.

  3. Interference by the rules is defined by touching the ball, blocking the opposing goalkeeper's line of view and preventing the opposing player from getting the ball. Rashford didn't do any of these so the decision to stand as a goal is right per the rules. Logically there are several arguments which clearly explain how Rashford 'interferes' with play but none of those arguments or scenarios are mentioned in the rules.

  4. As a united fan I have to admit that united had an advantage because pep decided not to play Haaland. He's an incredible striker and would have caused united problems.

  5. The problem is that the refs aren’t accountable. They should come out and admit when they get it wrong, then we can say we all agree he was offside and a mistake was made. we now have one ref doing one thing this week, another doing the opposite the next and they are both right because neither them nor the fa point out which decision was right and which was wrong according to the laws of the game.

  6. Rashford literally changed direction and went after that ball which influenced the defenders and goalkeeper
Ederson would've cleared that ball if rashford wasn't there

  7. I’d say due to the the laws being so grey and so many people involved in the decisions now it was very smart play from Rashford and a nice finish from Bruno. If city had more than 1 attempt on target then this might not be such a big issue

  8. There are other similar situations happened before
Sanchez Goal v Chelsea in 2017 FA cup when Aaron Ramsey was offside
Mirallas goal v Man Utd in 2014/15 PL match when Lukaku standing in the offside position

Both occasion, both Lukaku & Ramsey are seems to be running toward the ball and very similar to Rashford situation.

In my opinions, it is not blocking and interferring with the defender or goalkeeper. You should continue until whistle is blown

  9. Haha had to laugh when they started saying how players are going to exploit this now and stand in an offside position to confuse defenders as if that's not always been a tactic in football for the longest time. Van Nistleroy was a master at coming back from an offside position.

Only the city players can blame themselves for switching off because they've assumed an offside will be given. If one of the defenders or the keeper had actually run to the ball and been impeded by Rashford then they would have deemed it as interference. The truth is none of the city players got close enough to the ball where we can argue rash was shielding it, nor did Rashford obstruct the keepers vision of the ball at any point.

City needed to show that Rashford was interfering by

  10. In the 23rd min of Liv vs Brigthon, Trent was called for offsides, but Trent NEVER TOUCHED IT, and he did not even hardly make a play for it, he just stood there and watched it roll by 10 yds away from him. What about that? Hypocracy! Man U pays officials.

  11. the keeper knows Rashford is offside so he should have just ignored him. Bruno was just about in the same position as Rasahford when he took the shot, so it shouldnt have affected keeper that much anyway/

  12. "The law was amended to actually counter that argument of whether he touches the ball or does he interfere with an opponent playing the ball," Walton said. "He (Rashford) does neither, so as the law stands, he hasn't done anything wrong. It's actually very good play from Rashford himself."

Edit : Peter Walton former referee

  13. so if i have 4 players in offside position and shield the ball (none of them touch the ball) and have another player kick it from an onside position , thats ok right ? as long as all the defense are not close and the keeper has a clear view ? btw, why the defender are far away was because the man utd player was miles offside. I am not a city supporter but this is not fair for any team if the offside rule is like this. Its clearly Rashford WAS INVOLVED in the player and he was at one point even attempted to strike the ball.
