Just saw this ESPN segment. McKennie keeps coming through for us despite the way we mistreat him at the start of every season.

This guy is part of our fabric at this point. He ain’t Pirlo, but I would hate to see him go. Thoughts?

  1. They should renew his contract 100%, after yildez he is our most reliable player. Always consistent, can play anywhere and his performance last game was amazing.

  2. The guy that keeps getting pushed away and pushed down the hierarchy and instead of getting upset, he just puts his head down and works harder. He has the attitude of “you might be more talented than me, but you won’t outwork me” and that has to be rewarded.

  3. I’ve been a mckennie believer since day 1. I know this adds nothing to this post but I like saying it.

    I 100 % agree

  4. There’s not really a lot of American player specific football news so it makes sense this keeps getting recycled in the American media.

We should renew him absolutely. I think his performances and Spalletti’s favor goes a long way. If he doesn’t renew, I think it will be because he wants to leave. I would be surprised if there’s disagreement on wages, maybe there is disagreement on length of contract. We’ve historically only renewed him for very short periods.

His stock is at an all time high right now. Maybe he thinks he can get a nice longterm contract in the EPL. He’s 27, if he wants to get his bag, this is is probably his last great chance. I don’t think Juve would match a big wage/long contract he could get in England. That would probably make him one of the highest earners on the team which, despite his great form, I doubt the club is willing to do.
