We should probably be excited that it means we’re signing an even better forward/winger. I can’t see Alyson being the replacement.

I’m a bit disappointed because he was incredible against Spurs, I think he’s a proper old fashioned 4-4-2 “little man” that probably doesn’t work in the modern game of a lone “power forward” but we were still reaping the results of playing him and, this will be controversial because he’s a bit of a cult hero amongst the younger fans, he’s looked a fuckload better than Watkins this season and I’d have much preferred we kept Malen as the impact/rotation player and replaced 30 year old 150k a week Watkins with a new number 9 instead. I don’t want to be saying “we sold the wrong striker” two years running, but I suppose that’s what I’m saying.
I was also looking forward to watching him bang them in for the Dutch at the world cup but there you go.

He was on £101k/wk at Borrussia Dortmund, so can see why we offered over that. But it’s still too much…
Appears to have jumped from £10k/wk at PSV to £100k at Dortmund. Looks like it is pricing him out of playing with Villa….
Maken has been very important for us. But…
Should he start ahead of Watkins? If we sell Watkins for £100m will Malen come back and get 60mins instead of 30mins in Emery’s rotation system?
