Usual transfer window gossip abounds, but to hear of a possible deal with Roma for the Don just makes my heart sink. Yes his profile falls between a few stools – he's a sort of hybrid – but he's been great. The numbers: 0.56 goals per 90 minutes in the PL (top 2.8 percentile of PL strikers in 2025-26); 3.77 shots per 90. Also our joint top scorer, with 7 goals in only 984 mins across PL and Europa.

Say it ain't so

  1. Would be a strange one to see as he wouldnt be making us money, we arent seeing first teamers move on unless its suits us financially (like jj or duran)

Teams are allowed to be interested but id be shocked to see it happen

  2. With the links to Tammy Abraham who i believe is on loan from Roma as his parent club maybe there is something in it, think i would rather have Malen personally but who knows

  3. Honestly who knows with our clubs wheeling and dealing over the last few years.

I hope it’s not true as I think he is a great player to have in our squad

He doesn’t really fit our preferred set up, would be moving on a decent player but that’s what you have to do to bring back something of equal value

  5. I’ll be furious if Malen is let go on a loan deal. He has pace, plays on instinct and is actually a good finisher. His performance against Spurs was fantastic and the more time he gets, the better he’ll be.

He isn’t the same player as Ollie, he’s not the man to play up top on his own but he’s a player we don’t have. Sometimes his kind of skill set is needed, especially when we need a goal late in the game when defenders are tiring.

If we let him go and don’t replace him or get better, we’re gonna end up with the same situation after Diaby left.

  6. Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s one of the players who are on the bubble.

He’s a good player; but we don’t play in a way that gets the best out of him and he doesn’t offer what we need as either a RW or a CF – he’s made **9** league starts in the year he’s been with us and has only played like 900 mins in the PL – those aren’t the number of someone the manager trusts.

And it would be fine if he wasn’t a high earner – allegedly £140k a week/£7.2m a year in wages and another ~£4m a year in Amortization is *far* too much for someone who isn’t pushing to be a starter every week, especially at a time when our finances are being watched.

If he goes and we replace him with players who fit the system better I don’t think we’ll miss him but we absolutely *do* need to get replacing him right if he goes this window

It appears to be real and i think it’s mainly the wages. He’s one of our highest earners at 140k per week and given that hes more of a backup it seems kinda a lot but his impact has been superb this season.

With a world cup coming up and him being heavily involved we might be making a mistake selling him now given his stock will surely improve. Hope he doesnt go tho

Roma want Bailey out. We say no unless an alternative club is found.
Villa want Tammy. Besiktas currently have him on loan.
Malen hasn’t really worked at Villa since his move here, good player but it’s a poor fit for club and player.
Roma signs Malen. Villa signs Tammy. Besiktas finally get Bailey. Works for everyone involved. I think it’s happening.
