Amadou Onana’s first Everton goal was not enough as a James Ward-Prowse double condemned the Blues to a 2-1 defeat at Goodison Park.
Frank Lampard’s side looked on course for a precious victory when midfielder Onana headed home Demarai Gray’s corner six minutes before half-time.
But Ward-Prowse levelled matters seconds after the interval, collecting Che Adams’ flicked header to finish inside the area.
And the Southampton captain grabbed the winner 12 minutes from time with a 20-yard free-kick.

The weekly verdict: "It wasn't our day"…
3 world class players in the training staff…what's wrong..
Rule of holes-When in one stop digging.
Our club is embarrassing at the moment, half a billion spent on crap, at least we'll have the best stadium in the first division after a double relegation, starting to regret calling me daughter Grace Goodison Kennedy after us now
Sorry as it is time for Lampard to go.
Losing to a bottom side at home is unacceptable as we need points !
Wanted Frank to do well. Sacking managers every year is not good . Sadly Frank was very lucky last season and worse this season . He has to go
Get this fraud out NOW. Smiling after another defeat. He's useless. I rather have fat Sam back and that's saying something.
Out of ideas and out of time I'm afraid, but Frank isn't' the real problem as we all know.
Give it time
He'll do great in championship.
If it continues like this it will go downhill.
Lampard is not the problem, its the players
He should retire from coaching and take up a new profession of punditry.
How long before he admits it's not working you can even see it in the youth teams since they changed to his style of play that the way he plays causes so many issues
I feel sorry for Frank.
I think we're being pushed around by a management team that doesn't understand what's going on.
But he has to take responsibility because he was in a position to lead😢
We should play a flat 5 in midfield it used to be were the game is won in midfield a 3 5 2 should have been the formation..
Sack and give the new manager a signing. Kenright can fuck right off. Moshiri has too much invested to leave before the stadium is project is over.
thrown into a sinking ship, you have to feel bad for him at some level, but completely out of his depth, especially considering he has to work with a terrible terrible squad
Gueye at fault for the 1st goal.
He’s sucked
Give the job to Duncan Ferguson
