  1. Hes 100% right we went away from what made Slot win the league and that was making it a more simplified Klopp tactics to a tactics thats non existent and now probably play top 3 worst football in the league

I guess he will be relegated more to the bench now, for even remotely criticizing the-one-we-cant-slot.

A fantastic squad gifted a league win to a mediocre manager who used that to buy players to mash into a jelly of “let’s see what sticks” and then started blaming the players when nothing worked.

  3. Come on Macca! It’s really not that complicated, let me explain it to you: whenever you have the ball, go backwards, retain possession at ALL costs. Then let the opposite team get into their defensive shape. If there’s even 1 opposition player not behind the ball, pass backwards again! This will prevent them from countering! It’s genius.
Once the above step is complete we pass side to side to tire out the opponents and bore the crowd to death. After 20 side wards passes using our defense and holding midfielders we have to try to penetrate the 10 players the opposite team has setup in defense, but we must keep it simple. I can’t believe teams park the bus against, ugh!
Don’t take players on, don’t try any brave passes. This is tiki-taka at its finest!
Got it?! Good! Now let’s go and draw Leeds 0-0

  4. He’s been truly awful this year. He can’t move and gets run past all game. His decline has hurt as much as anyone’s this year, including Salah.

  5. Mac Allister is right, too much has changed but there are a lot of variables in there that have led to the current state of affairs at the club.

There’s a lot of blame to go around here and anyone dumping it all on Slot is either not understanding the situation or being deliberately obtuse.

The manager is absolutely responsible for the system and tactics deployed on any given day. Adjustments to those tactics against different opposition, choosing how to set up, progress the ball and alterations to attempt to defend a lead are also on him. Supporters like us from clubs all over the world have always wondered if teams that go a couple of goals up should not change anything and stick with the playstyle that earned that lead.

A coach or manager can only work with a hat he has tho and blaming him for the signings and sales is imo ridiculous unless there is clear evidence that FSG and the team behind the scenes have deviated massively from the recruitment strategy and the way responsibilities for recruitment have been allocated over their term at the club for a new manager after his first season.

I personally think Edwards, Hughes and Co shit the bed a but this summer and Slot is picking up the pieces. Maybe he should be doing better with what he has at his disposal but there’s no doubt that he has been left in a position where he has had to either drastically change his system or field a team without adequate cover.

There are glaring holes in the squad composition, players departed who haven’t been replaced and several other factors that are not of his making. I and most I have spoken to aren’t going to judge him or call for his head until he has had more time to adjust or has a more well rounded squad to field.

If you want my opinion, the biggest reason why we are less good this year is because we lost Luis Diaz. Y’all loved to rip him for some reason but he was the best LW in the league last year. And more importantly, his work rate in pressing was second to none at that position. However, he wanted out so this was largely outside of our control.

The second biggest reason is Salah.

The third biggest reason, and I might get flamed for this, is Nunez leaving. When we had Diaz and Nunez playing together at the front, I really think it was underreported and underappreciated how much chaos they would cause *with their defense*. CBs did not want to see those two pressing. They were like madmen. Granted, Nunez was frustrating in his own way, and i think it was right for him to get sold. But the recruitment team should’ve realized what we were losing *in terms of defense, effort, and physicality* by losing both Diaz and Nunez. We did not replace that, and now are paying the price for it.

I think what I love come to realize this year is that aside from Salah clearly being a few levels lower than last season, the excitement in our team and the general good vibes in the stadium came from our effort and pressing. And when Diaz and Nunez left that went out the window.

  7. LFC fans refuse to accept that Kloppo as any generational manager does makes the transfer team’s life a lot easier.

He’s was amazing at platforming players and motivating them. Also good in selection.

Edwards is a good top 10 operator but probably not this generational genius he was sold to be.

He was here through the Rodger’s era. He was involved in this 500 million spend window that didn’t replace Trent and Diaz’s profile.

  8. I wish we would change and get rid pf him. He’s been useless this season. We need a DM not him!

Trent, Diaz, Nunez, Harvey, Kelleher. Obviously Jota.

Maybe didn’t have the big price tag, but they made our team functional. We were the best in the world.

Slot you must leave! You’ve made us look like united.

    >“Many things changed as I said,” he reiterated. “New players came in to replace those who left, we changed too many things,

This is a very cool and logical take. Well done to the lad. It also happens to be the true reason of their woes ( alongside not refreshing their defence and buying an extra striker they never needed).

  11. We’ve changed the way we play in general.
Gone from fast and calculated press, and fluid football to a lidl tiki taka pep tactics.
