[John Percy, The Telegraph] EXCLUSIVE: Edu Gaspar, Nottingham Forest’s global head of football, is coming under pressure amid the club’s turbulent season with doubts emerging over his long-term future.
We can now stop pretending he was some kind of savant at Arsenal.
In reality, he was a hit-and-miss DoF that ended his tenure with a disastrous 2024 window.
– he failed to sign Bruno Guimaraes 3 TIMES (once at Paranense, then Lyon, then Newcastle). Ridiculous
– Arsenal went on a historic 2nd half run in 23/24, and decided to follow that up with a Raheem Sterling deadline day loan and a CUP-TIED goalkeeper.
His saving grace was that he and Arteta got along. If Berta was in charge sooner, Arsenal would’ve been in a much better position.

Just look at Arsenal’s behavior in the transfer window the summer that we replaced him. He was a problem at Arsenal and everyone knew he’d be a problem at his next club.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my 25+years of watching the footy, is that; Premier league owners, no matter what nationality, no matter what sort of set up and no matter what size of club do not know their arse from their elbow.

They let him cook one of his BBQ’s, and he’s burned the house down…
I’m forever grateful to Edu and what he did at Arsenal until his last year, but I’m glad we parted when we did.

Same should be happening for Richard Hughes.

Must be nice to have a club realize their head of football operations/sporting directors are not performing to standard and sack them when they aren’t meeting those standards……………
Understand Chelsea’s position is not Forest’s but has Forest spent over £1 billion on new talent over the last couple seasons?…

We can’t have other clubs falling out of the crazy tree without throwing ourselves and screaming loudest

Hardly surprising. Not sure why he was employed in the first place after all the mistakes at Arsenal.

Sack Nuno partially because he hates Edu… then sack Edu a few months later. Marinakis the genius at work again

Edu has been a disaster but it’s an all too familiar story with our owner. Bad decision after bad decision. Trying to be too big too soon.
Nuno was right about everything other than his conduct to get himself sacked. Although I don’t blame him for that.

Wow who could’ve predicted that Edu was an incompetent fool who’d quickly be shown to be out of his depth?
Other than Nuno I mean.

At this point why doesnt Marinakis just appoint himself as Sporting director and Coach

We heard there was a few sackings going off today so didn’t want to be left out.

I was literally mentioned [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/PremierLeague/s/05cYzf2jsp) the other day how awful Edu was for us. I have a feeling the final straw was the Sterling loan
Hilarious that he’s hired, causes a manager to be fired, then may be fired himself.
