Completely incompatible with that job from the get go, plays a niche style that requires overhauling the whole squad, the big mistake was hiring him to begin with.

  2. So they held onto him through all the losses, recognizing that the squad they had didn’t fit his style, only to eventually get mad and sack him over wanting players brought in who fit the style they held onto him for.

Sir Jimmothy, you’ve done it again.

Fletcher gonna roll a 4-4-2 and smash teams. Go on a run, get a CL spot. Get offered the job. And then fall apart. Ole 2.0

  4. Really wanted him to work out. But you just knew the INEOS powers that be wouldn’t have him challenging them on signings for much longer.

They backed him enough to get him a new front three this year, but failed to address the disaster of a midfield that has been the team’s problem for close to 10 years now, maybe longer. Feel for him, but I also understand the decision.

Great news. Any other big club would have sacked him in the summer but like usual we gave him way too much time.

I’m honestly surprised he did not get fired after the Europa League final defeat last year or even when Grimsby Town beat Man United in the carabao cup

How much is United paying ex managers? Does anyone have that number? It has to be in the 8 figures.

The mania to sack managers — whether from the Board or the fans — is madness. If this was due to a power struggle with upper management, then what sort of due diligence did you do with this guy? Did you understand what you were getting? Did you come clean about all the constraints he was going to work under? Did you promise one thing and go back on the promise? Did you establish clear expectations for both sides?

Unless an organization does these basic things it is clearly dysfunctional. First Maresca, and now this.

Rumors are floating they want Glassner. More THREE IN THE BACK!!

    Again…madness.

  8. I’m sorry to see him go. He always made me laugh.

He reminded me of Mike Bassett, England Manager. He knew all the right words but couldn’t quite put them in the right order.

The players have pushed yet another manager out of the club. The rot started when David Moyes took over from the irreplaceable Sir Alex Ferguson and it has been downhill ever since. Old Trafford has been a graveyard for several previously successful managers, or head coaches, and you have to wonder why.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos were supposed to bring financial discipline and sporting competence to the club but have achieved neither. Ineos is faltering under the weight of its own debt and it looks like the only money spent in this transfer window will be Amorim’s £££ severance pay. He will leave Manchester financially much richer than when he arrived.

So who’s next? And how long will they last with a dysfunctional board and player power controlling the club as it has ever since Sir Alex left?

    I’m watching with interest. 🧐

This feels like a balls up by Utd than Amorim. I feel he was doing a good job. Progress from last season to this has been significant.

    Reackon they’ll learn their lesson?

I would love to be a modern day football manager/coach get employed for 14 months then get sacked and get a 8 million pound payoff. With only 1 job I’m set up for life. Yes I’m currently available.

I’m sure this is very painful for Utd supporters, having to go through yet another transition. This is why I’m not sure Liverpool should sack Slot, even though their football is far from heavy metal; its more like sterile, caesium football.

Anyway, would be interesting to see how the on-loan players at Man Utd would fare with the new manager, wherever, however and if they play.

All the United fans that were chatting shit about Chelsea when Maresca left please tell Jimmy to hire Maresca so he can come do wonders for your team!!!

  13. It was better for Man utd than last season, i think. But still without european games and a early exit from league cup still it seems not enough.Anyway just like Ten Haag Ruben Amorim will receive a lot of money , so is not that bad for him.I am curious who will be next United manager? And for how long?

What a dumb club Man U has become.

Which player or coach would want to sign there?

    It’s a shit show.

    💩

Didn’t they cry poor when he asked for midfielders, then the second Semenyo was available they suddenly found £65M+

    Such an incompetent club.

I wonder how many more managers is the Prem going to sack, with Spurs,Forest,West Ham and Liverpool all grumbling. Is there a deeper problem that needs to be addressed in our league🤔?

  17. Left-Vanilla-1016 on

We need players that aren’t afraid to WORK…Amorim knew since SAF left that players were whining and didn’t wanna work…he just wanted them to WORK and I think he just wanted a cpl of guys who could run!

  18. ElectricalConflict50 on

Six months too late ! But we will take any positives.

With a good manager we can EASILY get op 6. And no I do not think we are top4 material ( though shit can happen in football). Top6 would be fair for us though if we are coached well enough. We are not and never were a bottom club. Amorim did that to us. ETH had us do better than 15th and was sacked.

  19. Personally I liked the guy. While some of the coaches of the past decade have objectively sucked, I still say it’s been the players who have just really underperformed. Yeah, you want a coach who can get players through that but the past 13 years have been so excruciatingly bad that I don’t know what coach could have saved this club.

  20. Imakemyownnamereddit on

The club that use to be the best run in the country is an utter omnishambles.

How many fucks up can they afford? They have already had to sack people to balance the books, so it is obvious they can’t just take on loads of new players, especially with their toxic wage structure.

Amorim’s system and philosophy wasn’t working but are they going to give the new guy time to build a winning side?

Especially since they will face the same problem as Amorim. A squad of player’s bought for multiple different managers, for different styles of football.

  21. Erik wasn’t the guy, Ruben wasn’t the guy, neither should have been hired, neither should have been fired …. This club is a riddle and a joke 🙂

  22. yagermeister2024 on

He might have left on his own after bringing them up on the table, he may have planned this kinda exit since Grimsby.

  23. Imagine the poor decision making involved in hiring a 3-4-2-1 coach for the PL (a formation that has one just one league title ever) and then supplying him with players who can’t play that system. AND THEN firing him because he wants players that can do what he asks.

    The club is a shambles.

  24. OhUnderstadable on

So I’m confused, do the higher ups of Manchester United want a yes man that turns miracles? Is that what’s up with this “I’m a manager not a coach” talk??
Genuinely please help me understand because this firing seems self sabotaging
