The owners are way too involved in the management of the team something that the manager should have a lot more freedom of decision making.

  2. What do I think? I’m fed up of people using a glorified summer friendly tournament as a yardstick for success. Great to win it, they played well, but it’s hardly a barometer for how he did.

They’re underperforming in the league but they do have a young squad. It feels like there’s more to come from this Chelsea team. Whether he was the one to unlock it, we’ll never know, but I think he deserved time to try.

  3. Not a black and white issue. The board wanted more rotation, but Maresca knew that with more rotation, it would bring losses, like it has.

Maresca was pushing back on the third party’s medical team’s windows for players returning minutes because he knows he doesn’t have depth in the rotation.

Maresca was apparently already talking to City in September/October.

The board keeps buying teenagers and wingers without any foresight into a back line rotation.

The youngest team in the league plays like it, emotion in place of tactics.

Until we get rid of Eghbali, this cycle will continue to happen.

Maresca saw Slot’s situation and treatment and said “that”. Chelsea saw a chance to throw money at someone and couldn’t help their shopaholic tendencies.

  5. All this talk about the board and rotation.

Could someone explain to me why exactly the board would want more players rotation?

  6. The controlling owners are poison in football. Look at what happened to nuno at forest.

If he was given time he would have done a lot for CFC.

Sad but good for him. Hope he gets a fat cheque and goes off for a holiday

If you’d told me a few weeks ago that Arne Slot would still have his job and Marseca would be out at Chelsea, I’d probably have eaten a sock.

In the past 20 years, Chelsea have only kept a manager past 2 years three times, and two of those managers were Jose Mourinho. Maresca is just one of another 6 that lasted more than a year. On the face of it, it’s just reading to me as Chelsea just doing what Chelsea does.

He’s done a bad job and the owners love to sack managers. Not much else to it really
