Saka kicking our players in the first half cutting possible counters, not a single booking.

Dubious first goal with a probable offside before the corner and a fault on Dibu, probably bland but we've seen goals not being conceded for similar stuff.

This second yellow on Merino (like what the absolute fuck, any other team and he would have been sent off).

The third goal, won't comment it.

We missed so many chances in the first half and totally collapsed in the second, but this stuff definitely doesn't help.

More seriously though. If this loss doesn’t light a serious fire under them then I’ll be massively disappointed. A loss like this simply cannot go unanswered. They should be looking to give us a convincing win against forest.

After today I don’t want another tight 2-1 win where we come from behind.

This is what years of Arsenal fans and coaches complaining to the refs leads to. Now refs are scared to make calls against them for fear of bias. Maybe we should take notes…

  3. He lost the game as soon as he didn’t book saka for his two tactile fouls tbh, expect nothing less from refs these days

  4. We definitely didn’t lose because of the ref. However, the referee had a diabolical performance and he may as well have put an Arsenal shirt on and just gotten on with it.

We’ve only ourselves to blame but how Arsenal only got 2 cards from 16 fouls, how we got 3 cards from 9 fouls, and how Merino did not get a second yellow card is beyond me.

And a final time for the predictable idiot who’ll think I’m blaming the ref, we most certainly did not lose because of him. However, questions about refereeing in this league have got to be asked.

Ref was a cunt and they should’ve had so many yellows before half time. Fuck being classy they never have.

The threshold for a second yellow is nearly always higher. Nothing exceptional there, I thought

  7. Not a Villa fan but seeing this from the front page and I was surprised the opening goal wasn’t ruled out. Gabriel goes up with his elbows up and out, the same elbow makes contact with the arm of Martinez and it effects the way he’s going to gather the ball.

Thought it was a free out in real time and really thought VAR would disallow it.

  8. merino should of had 2 blatant yellows after the first, ref scared to make the call, pathetic. Saka not even getting a single yellow for kicking our players on the counter also makes no sense, that a side we wasn’t good enough today but we are still in a great place in the league.

Arsenal are a dirty fouling team and they always will be whilst arteta is there.

Ref let them do it, should have been multiple yellows in the first half which would have stopped them being able to break up play by fouling, but the ref decided he was fine with it.

Spurs fan coming in peace, you guys got absolutely done over by the ref. Arsenal players are allowed to thug all game and didn’t get anything for it. The no second yellow on Merino is absolutely crazy.

I would also like to see that trip by Gabriel again. I feel like anytime that happens to any other team it’s “oh naughty boy hanging his leg out, you can’t do that, clear penalty”.

To top it off I have seen goals waived off for less contact on the keeper than the elbow in Martinez’s face. That said as always he has to be stronger there.

  11. Onana going off halftime was obviously a big factor in the result but for me the first goal was pivotal.

And I dont know how Gabriel jumping into Martinez with his elbow up and out is not given a foul. I hate the way corners have turned into rugby scrums these days, blocking and disrupting the keeper being ‘clever’ with it.

It used to be keepers were protected species back in the day, any kind of touch on them from a corner and a foul is given. Now players can jostle, step on their feet, push them before the corner is taken and its all ok?

The goal against Chelsea was soft by Martinez but this one today was a foul imo. You cant have your elbow up and out like that in the keepers face preventing him from grabbing/punching the ball. Its a farce and the refereeing needs to be sorted out. Ugly football.

  12. The ref was just awful throughout, for both sides. Gave us a bunch of soft free kicks, didn’t book Saka after 2 petulent and counter-attack-stopping fouls. He was just crap.

  13. Arsenal fan here in peace. Was at the game. We were excellent in the second half, but the margins were much thinner than the scoreline. Your first half performance was as good as anyone has played against us this season.

On the ref, it was at 2-0 but I agree we got away with Merino big time. We had this and the Saliba one go for us recently, but believe it or not before that we have actually been on the wrong end of a few 50/50 calls this season (overturned penalties where it was questionable if the mistake was clear and obvious, if indeed there was a mistake). It’s just one of those and your luck is sometimes in and it’s sometimes out.

  14. Nope, it was just a butt whooping. Guys had a problem getting the ball out of the back and got burned because of it.
