As a player who has been out injured since coming to the club, you should be chomping at the bit to get your opportunity to get into this team. So to come back out of condition if that's the case is totally unacceptable and shows a lack of passion to play in my opinion. I hope it's a one off.

I lived in Qatar 3 years. All expats talk about the" Doha Stone". One gains weight of approximately 1 stone in the first month alone because of the gourmet meals and Friday gourmet brunches etc. The food is so rich . It is superb.. Some of the best chefs in the world in the hotels. It's is all fine dining. Calvin will have experienced this phenomenon. It's almost impossible to resist the temptation to gorge one's appetite. He won't be a Stone overweight but it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that he could be 6-7 lbs over. That will take a minimum 3 weeks to burn off. 🔥 Pep has had a word. And his word will be final. Calvin will be in no doubt as to what is now expected. I think he will get fit soon .

Riyad Mahrez didnt have a great first season, he won the AFCON with Algeria and asked Pep to resume earlier than schedule, Pep played him more that season and he's been in Peps good books since then. Kalvin just missed his chance

If he said "not in a condition to train" then it's more than just his weight Pep was disappointed with. Pep likes the players to show him the right intentions and attitudes. That goes for in training, during matches, when they are on the bench etc.. You can hear him warning them about that in the documentaries, telling them he'll be watching and making notes if they hide from the ball. I think Phillips will be fine, maybe he has become a bit too comfortable in some aspects but I don't see why people think Pep wants rid already, he's a new player who's had a rough start, which Pep will be aware of but now is the time for him to knuckle down. Pep's just doing his job and letting him know.
