  1. Literally comes out and says along the lines of “the club can sell me if they need to, whatever is best for the club I’ll do” last year and he’s now annoyed that the club considered the rather big offer?

A serious servant to the club but don’t make the first statement if you’re gonna complain about it.

  2. All they said was that they wanted to get rid of the drips and rats from Old Trafford.

    They didnt mean Bruno.

    It was just a misunderstanding.

  3. He’s in the wrong game if he’s looking for loyalty 🤣 so he didn’t want to leave Sporting?

  4. I think another post is saying this in another way. Like this one is exagerated by much, can’t confirm what they say since i won’t login to telegraph and they want me to log in to read.

I think this source shouldn’t be posted ever since it’s unreliable

  5. Weren’t they gonna get like 100mil for him? Obviously they wanted him out, that’s just business.

  6. Y’all are straight up idiots.

Bruno has carried united since 2020. Returned us to the place we deserved to be. Finishing top 3 twice under ole.

And he’s still the best player on the team
Currently. Selling Bruno would be the dumbest shit we’ve done since fergie left.

United mentioned that won’t stand in his way had he wanted to leave, the manager mentioned multiple times he isn’t going anywhere, the management who does everything possible to save money gave up an opportunity for 100M, but yeah, after giving away a win at home yet again, the vultures are at it…..

  8. this is so funny.

salah got 277 G/A and was obliterated by the british media.

no player is bigger than the club they say.

why arent the british media say the same thing to bruno ?

He has been there one constant great player for the last 6 years and he could have jumped ship loads of times because the team around him wasn’t good enough but never did. Not a single United fan can moan if he moves on

It often baffles me how self entitled some of these players are. So what the club higher ups didn’t massage your ego for you to stay, didn’t the manager do that? Isn’t that more important than some CEO or board chairman?

I personally wanted him to go, $100mm+ for a 31yr old, particularly when you’re trying to fund a rebuild for a new manager and you spent almost all your transfer money on the position he should be playing. Get rid and move on.

The article is more than worth reading, but here are the quotes from Fernandes:

“Manchester United wanted me to leave, I have that in my head.ā€

ā€œI think they didn’t have the courage because Ruben Amorim wanted me here but from the club’s side I felt that if I left, it wouldn’t be so bad.”

ā€œCristiano advised me, but the final decision always rested with me. I decided to stay because I genuinely love the club, but loyalty isn’t as well regarded as it once was.”

ā€œI could have left in the last transfer window and I would have earned much more moneyā€

ā€œI was going to leave a season ago – I won’t say where – but I would have won many trophies that season. I decided to stay, also because of family reasons, but because I genuinely love the club.

ā€œThe conversation with the manager also made me stay. But, from the club’s side, I felt a bit like, ā€˜If you leave, it’s not so bad for us’. It hurts me a bit.

ā€œMore than hurting, it makes me sad because I’m a player who [there is] nothing to criticise. I’m always available, I always play, good or bad. I give my all.

ā€œThen, you see things around you, players who don’t value the club as much and don’t defend the club as much… that makes you sad.ā€

ā€œIf one day I have to play in Saudi Arabia, I’ll play in Saudi Arabia,ā€ he said. ā€œMy lifestyle will change, my children’s lives will be sunny, after six years in Manchester with cold and rain, I’ll be playing in a growing league, with renowned players.

ā€œI could have left like many people do and said: ā€˜I want to leave, I don’t want to train, I just want to leave for €20 or €30m, so they pay me more on the other side.’ But I never did that.

ā€œI never felt in a position to do it, because I felt that the empathy and affection I had for the club were the same.

ā€œBut it gets to a point where, for them, money is more important than anything. The club wanted me to go, I have that in my head.

ā€œI told the directors that, but I think they didn’t have the courage to make that decision, because the manager wanted me. If I had said I wanted to leave, they would have let me go.ā€

ā€œThe manager spoke with me,ā€ Fernandes said at the time. ā€œHe said I was still part of the project. He wanted me to stay. The club said the same.

ā€œI always said that if the club was like ā€˜Bruno, we want to cash in, you are 30 years old. We want to make some money. We don’t think you can be part of the future project’ or whatever, I would be like, ā€˜OK, I have to find a solution for myself, whatever is best for me and my family’ and I will leave. Obviously that wasn’t the case. I felt that I was still part of the plan.ā€

  12. People comparing this to the Salah mess are hilarious.

I know this will just be downvoted because of my flair regardless.

He’s one of my favourite players of all time, he’s given his best years to this horribly mismanaged ā€œrebuildā€ and he could walk into the starting 11 of most clubs in the world. If he had decided to leave to enjoy some last years at the top level who could blame him.

I get why rival clubs dislike him, but he’s an objectively special footballer who’s been pretty damn faultless for us and carried us many a season. I’ll never not be happy to see him in a United kit.

  13. Bruno is a great player and has served Utd well, so it’s understandable he felt hurt when they wanted to sell him.

Having said that, let’s not forget that football is a business first and foremost, and when big money offers come in for players who are at Bruno’s age, that’s just good business to take the money and use it to rebuild.

And as much as Bruno has great stats and has been considered Utd’s best player for a long time, he’s one of those players that if you removed him and replaced him with a central midfielder who is more suited to the system, Utd would likely perform just as well if not better.

  14. I don’t really think he’s a, or the problem there, but really he should have left. I don’t much like him, not my cup of tea, but he’s a dang good player who has deserved to be in a better squad the past few years.

Manchester United are crazy for wanting him to leave he is the guy holding the team together
