Brummie born and raised, with my early years in Aston, I found myself with a few spare days last week and decided to take the dogs exploring around Wolverhampton. We wandered through Wolves, Sedgley, and Gornal, stopping off at a few pubs along the way.
I’ve been to Molineux a couple of times before, once in the South Bank against Albion with a football‑mad colleague, and another in the away end with Blackburn Rovers (thanks to a mate from Galway who had a spare). Both times I enjoyed it, and I’ve always loved the classic look and feel of Molineux.
This time, I deliberately made sure to pass the stadium with the dogs. Coming out of the subway, the imposing gold steelwork struck me again, it really does leave an impression.
As a Villa fan, I like to see local clubs do well (so long as it’s not better than Villa, and definitely not Blulose!). Having our clubs’ names in the media brings investment into the West Midlands, which we need in plenty of places. So here’s hoping Wolves stay up, or at least bounce back quickly if not.
UTV – best of luck.

I wish more football fans were like you.
I did a lot of work around Villa this year after Ozzy death and I love the community feeling around the Villa stadium. The area leading up to it is impressive and the fans were nothing but friendly to me, albeit some gentle ribbing about how (truthfully) shit we are.
I love my team but I love football in general. And the more local teams in the higher divisions the better IMO.
No chance of us staying up mate but hopefully we’re on the rise again next year!
