This should have been a memorable moment for indian football fans but it became chaos

>Messi was accompanied on his brief visit by his Inter Miami teammate and Uruguay star Luis Suarez, and Argentina’s Rodrigo de Paul
You can’t just bring Luis Suarez along and expect to get out without drama.

Weird event. Weird country.
They paid €100 to sit in the stand to just stare at Messi. He wasn’t even playing or anything, just doing a lap and waving.
Then in typical indian fashion there are levels to it. The connected people got to walk around the pitch with him.
There’s another event today where he’ll play about 5 minutes in a 7 a side game. Shake a few hands with some Unicef kids, who most definitely won’t be kids from a poor background, they’ll be rich kids. Then off to the next €100 a pop stare-a-ton..

Like many soccer/football kids my son idolizes Messi, but I can’t help but be befuddled by the bizarre shit Messi does sometimes. There’s these events which seem like blatant rip-offs, and allegedly having his brother sign for his sports card commitments (which is also fraud). I’m not even counting the tax evasion thing since that’s apparently expected of rich people living in Spain.
Obviously there are far worse pro athletes as human beings but I catch myself wishing sometimes my son had a different favorite player.

At least Messi was there, he didn’t even bother to show up in Hong Kong.

I will never judge how people from less fortunate countries react and view these ‘superstars’ in the West, as we are truly blessed in my part of the world at least.
However the bloke that left his wedding needs his head looked at. Although it probably tells us as much about how many in that culture view the importance of marriage, or at least their role in it.

As far as I understand he’s not even playing a match here, he literally just turns up? Why would anyone pay $100 just to see him be in a physical place lol. Not even tickets to a match, utterly mad.
