Spanish football expert Alvaro Montero joined Sky Sports News to discuss how Gareth Bale will be remembered by Real Madrid supporters following his retirement from football.

Bale has described the decision to quit international football as “by far the hardest of my career”.

The Welshman won five Champions League titles and LaLiga three times at Real Madrid and is considered one of Britain’s greatest-ever football exports.

  1. Madrid will treat him the same way like he treated best club in the world. He was good servant with few good games but that’s all. Not much respect and not much love. Typical buffoon in huge wages.

  2. He was hanged by the Spanish media for no reason . They did not respect his privacy at all but any football fan in general will remember bale as nothing short of world class at Real Madrid .

  3. Let's not take the knee-jerk reaction of a few frustrated fans over a couple of years as his defining moment; he won 5 champions leagues, scoring in three finals. He will be remembered as a legend, no matter how much the british media wants to smear real madrid as per usual

  4. As our leyend. As a clutch player, cult footballer. We say it when we are hurt, we say it when we are dissapointed and when we expect more, but we also say it when you did your best, when you were extraordinary. This will always be his home and he will always be written in gold letters. 👏👏👏

  5. He will be remembered for copa del rey final goal, that bicycle kick from champions league final, BBC trio and ofcourse golfing(jk)…. In his prime he was one the best… One of very few you could stand there with Ronaldo and Messi… Hope that prime lasted long none the less Amazing Player and a real madrid legend💓

  6. I appreciate everything he did for Real and I classed him a Madrid legend a long time ago. Leaving after everything he's won all the goals he's scored and assists he's provided only solidified his legendary Madrid status. He is a Real Madrid legend. That's how I remember him

  7. a big game player but overall he had left Madrid in 2018 both mentally and physically, as was portrayed on his banner, wales, golf, madrid in that order.

  8. He will be remembered as good but not great because he could have stepped up when CR7 left and scored 40-50 goals a year. He scored a few big goals. BUT His lack of commitment caused him to not achieve all he could be as a Real Madrid player.

  9. As a Real Madrid fan I love him and his impact on the club. He scored in multiple finals and other important matches, he was an exciting and important player! Only bad thing is his fallout with the management and the local Bernabeu fans.
He is a legend of Real Madrid, he helped the club win a lot!

  10. One of the only players to be bought for a massive fee and actually live up to it. Always delivered when it mattered. Respect the man

  11. Ultimately I honestly think Gareth bale doesn't care what people or fans think of him I really don't, he was never that type of man he never played the media game and very rarely gave interviews, enjoy your retirement Gareth

  12. He will be remembered as a player who tried to challenge the power of Ronaldo and Ronaldo turned the fans against him in 2015 … He was a clutch player in finals ..
