Far less widely reported was this first post in Portuguese on X.

Not trying to excuse him at all, but at least this is more what I'd expect, a somewhat garbled reason and an apology.

"I understand that now I have to come across as the villain; it’s hard to live with everything that’s been caused in my life and in my psyche! I’ll keep trying to ensure they don’t affect me even more. This doesn’t justify my expulsion, and for that I apologise to the fans and my teammates!”

  1. I just always think when things like that happen that I’ve never ever seen a ref change their mind about something because a player argued with them over it

I hope he’s okay. I’m annoyed at yesterday too but it’s a game and he’s a human. Bloke needs some proper help

He genuinely was desperate for the red card. And now trying to play the victim card.

He’s living an adult life of unimaginable privilege, behave like a professional which you are supposed to be. Grow up and stop being a petulant man child

  4. Honestly what does it matter he will be going in either jan or end of the season drop him n keep it moving

He’s a clown. Of no use to us whatsoever. I hope he goes in Jan. was a fervent defender of him in previous years when people used to complain about him, but no more.
