Mikel Arteta reflects on William Saliba’s incredible rise at Arsenal π
“You’re telling a player that, in your opinion, the best thing is to go on loan… which at the same time means, here is probably not the right place for you, right now.” π
The way arteta managed saliba needs to be credited, because at the time we had mediocre players like Mustafi at the club and I think with the influence they had it would have been a huge mistake to put in the squad.
Tbh am not pissed yes it may have costed us 4th places but when he arrived he came like new signing and if he started when we signed him he wouldβve played with our old players shit mentality around the team team building ongoing not much game time etc so loan move gave him a edge when he came back straight to starting XI no doubt so itβs good decision by arteta imo

Credit to Saliba for showing patience and maturity so young.
If it wasnβt about us arsenal fans that we put so much pressure on you to play him youβd have probably sold him in your second year !!

and yet Nwaneri is rotting on the bench
This is why I know Ethan has a future for us. Mikel rates him. He's 18. Have patience guys
Arteta got a shit tonne of hate for sending Saliba out on loan as well! Heβs waiting for all your apologies ππ
I feel like nwaneri would benefit from a loan as well maybe next season
