Martinelli did better because Athletico started to press more in the second half.

…In Europe teams don’t tend to sit 8 behind the ball like most teams in the PL do so he has more space to run into.
Martinelli is way better than Trossard honestly

He’s more confident and his skills work a lot in these non prem teams. Athletico isn’t a bad team but the way they play, Martinelli is actually able to use his speed to his advantage. I also think players like Eze, Gyokores and Zubehmendi just have such an aggressive mindset it helps Martinelli who’s much more of an inside forward.
We also have this great thing that Gyokores simply does draw defenders. And with our left back creating chaos as we saw Lewis Skelly confuse the opponents amazingly not in the same exact way Calafori does, but in a way that made our team just as threatening. It gives Martinelli and Trossard the ability to threaten where they’re good at and both just play more calmer and defensively as our left back does aggressive play
Martineli is good in the UCL because teams does not park the bus against us like the other EPL teams
Gabby will shine in UCL because teams don't sit deep.
In PL Arsenal gets a lot of respect and teams don't press us much and sit deeper where Trossard shines with his greater technical ability.

So two things Arteta took away a lot of his natural talent when he bought havertz however, that's no excuse for him to go off the boil so much!

In the premier league, many teams sit so deep, which restricts his space, so he struggles because he prefers games with more open spaces for him
