  1. A good example of how you can have exactly the same information and come to a completely different and wrong conclusion.

De Ligt is a constant unless he needs to be rested. Maguire can only really play the central position, he gets exposed as a WCB.

Amorim plays him when the team is expecting lower possession, plan to play with a lower defensive line and expect a lot of set pieces. .

    It’s really not rocket science.

  2. No more Maguire at any CB positions. We only need him as a ST. He cannot defend even if he has 2 assistants left and right centre back to help him.

He is only needed upfront not as a CB.

  3. I would argue that the central position in this system is the least important of the three due to the fact that it is so important for the left and right centre backs to press into midfield which is something McGuire can't and doesn't have to do plain centrally

  4. I'd go yoro instead of Maguire and play de ligt central… Our defense always looks solid and organized with yoro,de ligt, and Shaw… The games he mentioned, aren't really good examples considering how poor we were defensively at Brentford and that even with the low block, Liverpool had tons of attempts, and could've easily won that game…I understand the threat from Maguire on crosses, but we concede less attempts with yoro, de ligt and Shaw playing

  5. Maguire plays centre because he can’t run to save his life, the other two CB will cover and that’s what Deligt has been doing. šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

  6. I think he uses Maguire for strength De ligt to cover space. Maguire can't cover space but he can bully you on air and physically. De Ligt reacts quicker than Maguire and has a 6 sense for danger quickly covers for Shaw or Yoro.

  7. Amorim play maguire when we want to defend our box and play Compact. When we want to attack play high line then maguire Will be on the bench. The only reason why maguire play vs Brentford because we were afraid of Brentford set piece

  8. Maguire can stay on the bench where belongs along with Luke Shaw too slow and too small I don’t care got lucky with Liverpool even thought it was a great win but lucky we won THIS IS THE THREE HEAVEN left, DIGT central and YORO on the right

  9. The reason is simple, Amorim explained. When Maguire plays, it means United will not press high. This is because Maguire does not thrive playing high up.
That mistake(vs Brentford) was corrected vs Liverpool. United played deep and compact because Maguire played.
Agains Brighton, we could afford to play very high up because the 3 defenders have some pace in them to enable them recover when there are loose balls.

Maguire selection is a more defensive tactical approach

  10. It’s really obvious that Maguire will play when the box needs defending.

He played against Liverpool because Amorim had a game plan of sitting back.

He played against Brentford because Amorim was concerned about defending the box at set pieces, throw ins included, but he got that wrong as he expected (for some reason) we’d be able to play a high line in that game against Brentford, that is not a back 3 for a high line, Maguire has never been able to play a back line and that’s a worrying decision from Amorim, when we can see it and he can’t.

It has nothing to do with playing that Bach 3 in the toughest games, they were just poor decisions by Amorim.

  11. Huge difference between the brentford and Liverpool games was who was behind the defenders. They can play with confidence and without second guessing what a calamitous keeper might do next.

  12. So, Mazroui is now redundant?! – he had proved to be an awesome Defender for us. I would choose De Ligt as CB, Dalot as LCB and Mazroui as RCB. Both being subbed at the 65th minute to keep them 'fresh' for following games. Yoro, Shaw & Maguire being switched to cover for injuries and Substitutions.

  13. It will all come down to who he plays up front. If he play with 3 10s as he did vs Liverfool yoro wont start as his pace is not needed as much . If he goes the other way plays a target striker yoro will start as we will play a much higher line

  14. Yes playing good but there’s more to it let’s not forget Maguire’s lack of pass hence why he plays central and because he does everything else right but also shaw and de ligt can cover his mistakes because of lack of pace

  15. In the so-called ā€œtough gamesā€ he played Maguire because he felt there was legit aerial threat and he wanted to play a low block! Not because he secretly prefers Deligt over Maguire…

  16. Delusional Ricky. This is more about De Ligt being able to be aggressive at RCB which often Yoro doesn’t seem to be able/want to do

  17. When we have to defend …maguire is best option for central centre back because of his aerial ability ..but when we have to play on the front foot
Licha-de ligt-yoro is the way to go

  18. De ligt should be our captain he makes a few mistakes but he is a baller and I love how he barks at everyone if they don’t do their job. I like Maguire and I’m so happy to see him play again but I think Anorim put Maguire in when we face a lot of corner kicks because of his height and presence in the box.
