i think trent is more experienced than trippier. trippiers never had to defend against the players trent has. its so unfair hes never been given a chance for england and thats the story for a lot of players. He should go to HR and file a grievance
Trent has won everything. The argument that he’s not as good defensively is complete rubbish. Compare his stats to James. Walker and Trippier. He’s ahead. Also, you can’t draw your way to a World Cup. There’s a point where you need goals.

Trent is the scapegoat right now , he was never an amazing defender but a good one with immense stamina but the way Liverpool play when’s we’re on it he defends high he’s willing to press an stick a foot in when our MIDFIELD is on it he press along side of them an we close the gaps an try to get the ball back to trent in our half after winning it high In their half with the support of the center midfielders an the forward line !! The problem is Liverpools press from the midfield has been poor an Klopp is continuing to Play the Liverpool way an not getting the legs an energy from midfield which is heavily exposing our defense

Trent isn't a good defender though. When VVD isn't playing or when VVD is out of form, that's when we see the frailties of TAA. Trent is more of a winger in my opinion.

The only thing trippier has is his set pieces and defence or why not play Trent midfield and have a defensive RB behind him
The whole point of a squad is you can take different profiles of players in the same position. You might prefer Trippier, James or Walker, but Trent should be in the squad. He offers something none of them else do. He’s not defensively bad, it’s just that he’s used to playing in a system where his job isn’t only to defend. That’s modern football. Any other country would kill to have Trent and would build their team round him. We’re allergic to flair players in this country.
Ambrose does well, operating off of a singular brain cell like that. It's quite amazing really.
TAA should try and look for a better manager who can turn him into a winger from fullback. As he's not that great defensively, I think he should try to change his position. Look how Pep transformed Joshua Kimmich from fullback to holding midfielder. Look how Cancelo and Walker plays as Midfielders when City is attacking
Trent literally has better defensive stats than them all the past 2 seasons. And that's including the injury stricken season where Liverpool had no defenders. Hes had some blunders positionally but this myth he can't defend is ridiculous lmao. Liverpools full defence has been awful, trents been made to be scapegoated.
