Fans: Harry Maguire sucks Southgate: No Fans: You suck Southgate: (wins more than literally every England manager since the 70s, winning a knockout round minimum in each of his tournaments so far and never even coming close to failing to qualify)
This honestly sounds to me like Maguire for England is like Stones for City.
It makes me wonder if another team using him as a libero or even a CDM would be able to seriously reinvigorate his career, because he's been solid as an attacking CB for England, but being looked upon to take a more defensive and less attacking role for United just seems to make him feel like he's a lot worse than I think he really is, and how stats like this show he can be.
I, despite not a fan or wanting him at my club, was reluctant to the not taking him for exactly these reason; but my question now is, have the people who replaced Harry, despite both being brilliant; not been good enough at the specific things he is picked for in a Southgate team? Or have they matched what he delivers and more?!?
This is what Villa are experiencing with Pau Torres. He’s in there as the advancing connection to midfield & attack…. But Villa also concedes an extra goal say every 3 games because Pau Torres is not adequate strength for a CB.

Because he has his favourites
Because Manure are rubbish and ruin good players. Rashford is the same. Terrible for them and very good for Eng.
Perhaps if he started hitting his wife then Ten Hag might start playing him
Maguire makes more sense to me than Henderson

Here after the Denmark game. He passes the ball through lines very well. I believe Wharton should start against Slovenia.
This video aged well, McGuire’s not at Euro 2024!

Maguire should start at a decent Premier League club. He’s never been that bad for United and for England he’s exceptional.
