His role is pretty unique tbh, he plays almost as a fullback in posession but because he has both a winger and a wingback in front of him he often finds himself with the ball and space near the final third. That gives him good conditions to find a pass or cross into the box. Its also largely what Schlotti was doing at times last season before the injury, in fact he was even better at it
He should play as a wingback when we have everyone available imo
There is only two other defenders in the top 10. Bense has been a life saver since schlotti was injured. I always thought he would be moved to LWB or the bench once schlotti was back he is definitely in our top 3 CBs right now. It’s great having both him and schlotti for our offensive progression on top of them being great defenders.
Edit: didn’t realize Martin was a defender, but still to be up there against defenders from one of the best attacking teams in the world is amazing
