He has been playing a lot of football this season already. He played every minute for the Dutch and he had a career changing injury when he did his ACL. He was never going to be the same after that
VVD has been a disaster for ages.. TBH..
Most of our current midfield issues can be traced back to letting Gini walk out the door, and in typical fsg/klopp fashion not even bother to replace him with similar. Almost the entire fanbase could see the midfield issues in the summer and before, yet fsg/klopp refused to even acknowledge them , why ?, its baffling. Our refusal to strenghten while at the top after lifting the PL was totally against the clubs dna also, happy to sit on our laurels again. Klopps style of high pressing, hard running etc will always burn out players quicker, yet we dont seem to take that into account ?, Total mismanagement of the midfield (which everyone in power at the club must take full responability for) leaves us with either very young players or injury prone 30 somethings, all this for one of the richest clubs in the world !

Lets be honest, Van Dijk has been very poor all season bar the City game. We have conceded first in 13 games and his leadership skills at the back have been found wanting. Its a big loss of course, but he not been the Van Dijk of old for some time!
Virgil got injured two seasons ago and klopp played different combinations and all didn't work untill he started playing Nathan Phillips and from there on we managed to finish third.
Virgil hasn't really been great this season!

Since he came back from his ACL injury in 2021 he wasn't been quite the same player. I hope we can get another CB but the main priority should be a midfielder
