I really thought winning with Argentina would be enough for Martinez and he would stay at Villa for the rest of his career. Shame if it ends like this because the club has the ambition and the finances, we are just hamstrung due to the not fit for purpose rules.

If his head isn’t in it, we need to move on. Bizot certainly could step in. This season is going to be tough and I think we need accept this and take SCR constraints on the chin, play as well as we can, utilise our already signed players more and build again next summer. New head of business needs to increase revenue in other ways because the prior team squeezed the fan base. Sadly, we may see more empty seats?
28 is a great age for a player who's hit their prime but he's stalled at West Ham and that's a worry.

Unsure on paqueta, nervous excitement best describes it. Can we really let martinez go at this late stage? Massive saving on wages and he has dropped standards a bit but a real risk with no replacement lined up. Want that right sided defender but it seems we are linked with nobody we actually need.
Agree we need another wide player, but malen can play wide, guessand can, maatsen is arguably better as a left winger than a left back…..we have tools, emery doesn't want to use them. He wants to control games by passing in the middle…..football has changed since Barcelona in the early 2000's.

For us to spend money in the future it’s impossible to bring that kind of revenue in we would need 100’s of millions to do so never going to happen! This current team leaks goals doesn’t score goals ! We won’t finish top half of the table or do well in Europe ! Emery will leave the end of the season and we only have the board to blame ! 50 million would be crazy for a player (Paqueta) who basically stunk the place out last season. I know the market is inflated but still, it feels like a huge risk.
This summer has not been good for us. So disjointed. I hope that doesn't have a lasted effect on what happens this season.
