The fee wasn’t mentioned but from what’s been posted on r/soccer Gladbach matched the offer of Parma which should be 6+2mio €

  2. See how he will shine in BMG and we will bite our asses bc he didnt get played by our Coaches. I call it here..

So unfortunate. Back in 2020 I had more faith in him than in Brandt to be Reus successor. Between weird long injuries, Edin Terzic who didn’t liked him, as well as his poor choices of not accepting loans to play more elsewhere, he’s come to this point, where he’s downgraded massively.

Hope he can turn around his career. Wish him the best.

  4. Finally, we are free from him and he is free from us. But I am not looking forward to his obvious goal against us

  5. Another player who has spent so much time at the club, sold for a sum that they couldn’t possibly replace him with.

Is the 8m potential fee really worth selling him? I know he hasn’t really live suit his potential, however he still has the ability to immediately come on and be attack focused and make good plays.

    From his Instagram:

I arrived at BVB as a 16-year-old kid, and over the past six years I’ve grown into the person and player I am today. Every time I stepped onto the pitch in black and yellow, I gave everything I had for this club.

I’ll carry so many unforgettable memories with me, from my Bundesliga debut to lifting the DFB-Pokal, and all the moments in between. Dortmund has shaped me in ways I’ll never forget, both on and off the field.

To the staff, my teammates, and above all, the incredible fans: Thank you. Your support through every high and low has meant the world to me.

Now it’s time to close this chapter and start a new one, but BVB will always have a special place in my heart.

Thank you, @bvb09! Heja BVB 🖤💛

As a USMNT fan he is a weird case.

When he has played for USA he shows some skill and creativity, but injuries have been a problem and then of course the coaching situation with Berhalter.

I was not a fan of Berhalter so gave Gio some leeway, but not playing for a few coaches at Dortmund and the injuries it seems like there may be some other issues behind the scenes.

Hopefully a change of scenery and some consistent game time can help him get back to his potential.

He is still pretty young at 22 and could turn it around. Needs to get his mind and body right.
