Reports suggest Manchester United sent scouts to monitor Benfica youngster Antonio Silva last week when the Portuguese side took on Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.
The Mirror claims Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag may look to exploit Antonio Silva’s contract clause.
Silva, 18, is making a name for himself as he enjoys a fine start to the season in Lisbon, which has attracted interest from Manchester United. He has made eight senior appearances for the club – only missing one game since his debut – and excitement is building about his potential.
Silva’s current deal at Benfica doesn’t expire until 2027, but reports suggest his deal contains a release clause of around £13 million. The young defender could be seen as an opportunity to sign a bargain in the transfer market because his value is likely to rise.
Meanwhile, ESPN suggest Real Madrid are looking at Silva too, so there is likely to be lots of competition for his signature.
