  1. Personally I'd say do it. Watkins has been great but as a player approaches 30 the first thing to go is his pace and that's one of Watkins main attributes. I think now is the right time to cash in. Oh and Openda is quality

  2. You and others are soooo hooked up on Watkins goal & assists.. I too understand BUT we have to move on and get another striker on lower wages and other players around to contribute and assist..!

Just think if Watkins does his ACL midway through the season.. then we're in the same position but can't replace him until January and pay over odds or wait until the summer..

We've got to release Watkins somewhere due to his age.. even if we do it later we'll again be in the same position..

Get a player in first then sell Watkins.. there's lots of players Emery would love to work with licking his lips in the meantime..

  3. I'm 50/50 with this one. I agree we don't want to lose Watkins's goal involvements, but at the same time PSR is a reality we are living in. £60m (and it has to be near this figure) is difficult to ignore for a 30 year old.
Openda has the right attributes and will involve those around him a lot more with his play than Watkins currently does.
Sometimes you need to take a calculated gamble, as long as the research has been done correctly

  4. For me it all depends on IF Ollie has had his head turned. If so, we need to be rid. Openda would be the calobre we would be looking for. I'd like Ollie to stay but only if he's committed

  5. Tough 1. Feel OW11, has been played out of position since he has been at Villa. Despite the numbers he has achieved there is a need for a REAL striker to come in and see how that can transform the squad and help us build for the future.

  6. No harm but watkins has served his time, and openda is an upgrade from him. Openda has scored 70 goals the past 3 seasons comparing 59 from watkins n watkins misses too many sitters
