Not trying act like I know better or something like that, but Max just gives me that exact vibe of player BVB used to sign not long ago, and i also feel like this is the last window he would still be somewhat obtainable. Far greater risks were taken before. Of course he wouldn't be 7 mil to buy.

If Serhou becomes unavailable, we're dead in the water.

  1. Maybe I’m missing something but this dude has no goals and less than 1 xG in all of the minutes he’s ever played in the BuLi?

He’s not viable as the Guirassy backup because he clearly needs to be somewhere he can get significant more minutes if he’s going to mature into a starter for a BL team, let alone a starter for a team competing in the CL.

That’s the quandary with us looking at backup ST options.

    – Young players like this won’t get enough playing time and will stagnate. Yet they’re not good enough yet to cover for Guirassy in the event he were to miss say, 6 weeks.

    – older players will cost more as backups

Fun fact: Guirassy missed six matches. We won five of them and drew the remaining one.

In three matches, Guirassy was only subbed in and we won all of them, with two matches already being in the lead at the time.

  3. We should look for an experienced striker instead, who is happy to be at a big club like Dortmund and understands that his playing time will be very limited if Serhou is fit, not a talented player that will not develope if he doesn’t get enough playing time.

  4. I still think we should go for Shuto Machino from Kiel to be a Guirassy back-up. He could provide depth on all the attacking positions, he is primarily a striker, but he can also play as a winger or offensive midfielder. He managed to score 12 times and have 4 assists in 34 games this season in a relegation side. He seems to be a late bloomer and his fee would most likely be around 7 mil, a steal in my opinion for a 26 years old Bundesliga proven attacker.

  5. it’s not optimal but we can use Beier as the ST backup. we need to invest in midfield and defense.

Dortmund has never been the best in selecting young talent from other German teams. Süle before he went to Bayern – if I recall correctly – as Hoffenheim was relegated, would’ve been a perfect candidate for young talent.

Best exception is Reus, but Reus was on a high fee for the time and wanted to return to BVB.

Hummels had no first team prospects at Bayern.
