These guys did not take a break. Many of these players were playing for their countries at this moment. FIFA just wants the money. They don’t care about the players. Btw Auckland city has players with part time jobs. Many players couldn’t play because of it.

BVB will receive a minimum of 30M for their efforts.
There are bigger issues to feel sympathy/empathy.
The whole concept of this tournament is beyond me and I really don’t care, like AT ALL, how this ends. There’s so much more important things to focus on as a club than this. It is just becoming a Moneygrab faster and faster each year. Totally pointless.
The African, South American, and Americans want this tournament and will take it seriously. Can’t be too eurocentric about it.
But it’s true that many players will not have enough rest. It’s a great idea but the inspiration and schedule are iffy.
I‘m not boycotting the tournament or anything and gave it a legit chance. But the games are so boring and you can tell that player are not giving 100%. Also feel like a little break from soccer between the seasons is actually a good thing IMHO.
It’s great for all the teams outside Europe
Over all the main issue with this tournament is the toll on the players. You could tell in most games especially us today that the guys are exhausted. Fluminese are in the middle of their season and they had that push that we had the last couple months.
I’m not shocked by the result at all today, hopefully they rest up well and we go again on Saturday with a bit more emphasis on pushing for a win. Getting to round of 16 is good enough any extra is bonus in terms of money but I think some different changes for lineup would have benefited us today due to the international games last week.
>Btw Auckland city has players with part time jobs. Many players couldn’t play because of it.
You say that like they are not having the time of their lives
Most of these games have been very boring
I’ve been to two of these matches… #metlife
Fluminense has played 72 games in the last twelve months. Borussia has played only 50. What’s the excuse?
I couldn‘t care less about that cup. I am watching u19 and and u21
Teams will legit want to shoot as many goals vs auckland as possible because it will go down to goal diff between the 2&3 as they drew themselves and will prob lose to bayern.
So whoever wins higher vs auckland between benfica and boca will get through. Such a weird thing
These dudes get paid a ton of money to play a game. Most adults in the world work over 50 weeks a year. I’m not crying over their participation, in fact, the tournament could be fun if done during the right time of year
I was at the match in NJ today and BVB fought hard. It was a quality game, and the scoreline didn’t capture that. As a U.S.-based fan it was awesome to see them on the pitch and gave me some newfound respect for Nense as well. It’s not Champions League but I’ll take it.
So Fluminense and BVB played two times against each other? And both games ended 0-0 ?
Sad!
Tournament is a glorified friendly the only reason is moneyy
since Fluminense is the strongest opponent in this group, it’s not a bad result for BVB.
Aside from risking player injury, the money will hopefully make it worth it. But I just did a full work shift and couldn’t keep awake fully in the hsi match and I honestly regret trying to stay up.
“The guys didn’t take a break.”
Brother I’m on 4 hours of sleep for 25/hour.
Meanwhile they’re playing the game they love for millions. They’re fine. Auckland City may be the only team I feel for.
man, they’d be playing confederations cup tbh if wasnt for this, european teams finding excuses in case of losing to someone from another continent is sad
ive been reading around the world media and fans comunities, and it seems like africa and america are very happy with the competition, also its worth mentioning that brazilian teams have state tournaments and play around 12 games more than european teams per year, even though they are mid-season they are playing almost non stop, and no complaints from them about conditions or anything, they are more than happy for the chance for play against worldwide known teams to the point than europeans who seem to enjoy only their own league
