  1. Opinion on Martin batrunia . I personally would love if he is our cherki alternative especially of como is spending 23-25 million on him

  2. NiviCompleo on

Jobe aside, think it’s ridiculous that BVB decides to find the extra 5-10M for him and not Cherki 6 months ago.

  3. AverageCarey on

So Berger has clarified the fee for Jobe, it is 30.5m+5 with half of the 5 being realistically achievable which would equal out to the 33m that Romano had said.

He didn’t say anything about the sell on clause so no idea if it’s 10 or 15%.

  4. Secret-Inevitable-21 on

I think after CWC we and other clubs will discover a lot of talents from South Americas and other countries. Better to wait till CWC is over to find more prospective talents.

  5. One thing I dont really understand fully, is the seemingly semi-hihg priority on a backup striker this window. I wouldnt mind a backup striker, but its not really a pressing issue at all. We got Beier who did well when called upon as a lone striker. Even if he plays elsewhere when Guirassy is fit. Imo it should be pushed to a january window signing. Its a low-key target for that type of role anyway so its not like it’d be tons more expensive then like a starting quality-target would be.

On top of that, I kinda worry that because Brandt isnt gonna be sold, they are gonna think “well guess we dont get a #10 this window then” and go for a backup striker or something instead. I dont like that thinking. Partly because, while extremely overhated, Brandts really poor season but also partly because even if Brandt performed, we’d still need depth/competition for him. Another #10 is a must either way.

Hopefully they think this way too and their priority on a striker backup isnt as high as I get a gut-feeling it is, and the #10 thing is still a focus. I saw some talk about Jobe being eyed for a more offensive role. Idk about that since he isnt as forward leaning thinking and such as Jude, and has other strengths. However it would lend some logic to us being keen on Jashari still too. If Jobe is the more offensively designated signing, another CM like Jashari would make sense.

Long rant based on speculation on my part, but it got me thinking. Will be interesting as hell to see post CWC play out for us.

EDIT: Ok to clarify since theres some misinterpration it seems. Im not saying Beier is a great lone striker. Im saying hes fine enough to be the backup for 6months till january, without it being an issue. We have bigger needs. Especially when the rumour is a 15-20m signing á la Fabio Silva. Thats poor prioritizing.

  6. Pretty_Ad_5539 on

Man City is really stacked at the momen for the offensive positions. Wonder if Oscar Bobb on loan with an option to buy could be a possiblity. In addition to buying another offensive player.

  7. THE ATHLETIC REPORTING WE’RE CONSIDERING SANCHO AS A NEW 10 (and doan) YESSSSSSSSSSS

  8. Working_Rush6225 on

I would take Sancho at a cut rate price with an incentive laden contract. Gives both parties something to look for

  9. Chelsea have upped their bid for Gittens to 50m euros supposedly. Maybe we could hold out for more but I think I’d be okay taking that personally.

  10. There is reports that Chelsea submitted a €50m offer for Gittens today. I think City gets 10% of the fee due to a sell on clause which would leave us with €45m if we agree.

I think we can’t get much more out of it, maybe €55m if we play for time, but I don’t think it’s worth gambling much longer, so we can continue with the planning in a concrete way.

    Thoughts?

  11. https://x.com/KevinPinnow/status/1932445274774868270

€50m offer for Gittens rejected, we are still looking for €65m-€70m.
I really hope this transfer doesn’t drag on through the whole window now. I think €50m is a bit on the low side, but I have doubts anybody will pay our price tag. Gittens is the only player that we can turn into some real income this summer, and getting that secured now would be so important.

  12. Especially since many people scoffed when it was said that Watzke personally flew to England, I find it quite interesting that Jobe now says in an interview on our youtube channel that it was this visit that ultimately convinced him completely

  13. If Chelsea pull out of the negotiations who do you think could pay us what we want for Gittens?

Honestly I feel like Arsenal or Barça could jump in on him. Arsenal’s left flank is a bit of a dead zone and Barça need some depth in the winger department, I don’t think they’ want to go another season with only Raphinha and Yamal and risk running them into the ground like they did with Pedri and Gavi.

  14. If Chelsea dont come back after the CWC for Gittens, Kehl and Ricken properly fucked it. €55m for Gittens is absolutly fair. If they truly ask for €65, theyre crazy. imo.

Hopefully Im wrong tho and they come back and up their offer again after the CWC.

  15. ThatZenLifestyle on

KevinPinnow: Jamie Gittens apparently very frustrated with the developments, has just drove away from the training ground at high speeds.

  16. Pretty_Ad_5539 on

€50-55m for Gittens. €25m for Malen in January and his wage of €120k off the books.

If Dortmund also manage to sell or release Özcan, Haller, Reyna and Moukoko, I cant understand if they cant use well above €100m this summer. Especially when they managed to qualify for next year’s CL and with the money from the CWC.

  17. If he really wasn’t needed anymore there’s no way we would reject these €50m and €55m offers so quickly. Maybe the opinion on him internally was never that he isn’t needed, Kovac doesn’t seem to dislike Gittens or anything, it’s just that when Kovac came in it was clear we wouldn’t get European football on Gittens’ back alone. Maybe he had to be taken out of the lineup to make the others step up(Adeyemi, Beier, Brandt).

Now the thing is Kovac’s system doesn’t necessarily need two strikers, it’s just the back 3 and the midfield 4 that are set. The 3 players in front of the midfield could be arranged in more than one shape, they also could switch positions a lot during the game. We didn’t even use a two striker system against Barça at home which I maintain that was our best game this season.

Gittens could still play a big part for us next season, there’s still a world where he takes a step up in his development and then really demand 70-80m next summer. The combination of 3 players ahead of the midfield line of 4 could be any of those: Brandt(CAM) behind Adeyemi/Beier + Guirassy/Beier(3412), Gittens/Duranville and Adeyemi/Beier/Brandt behind Gurassy(3421).

So maybe it isn’t that we don’t need Gittens, just that Gittens had to take a step back so the guys could play like a team again. With the Bellingham signing Gittens could be reintegrated, as he would no longer be the lone english guy remaining after Chukwuemeka returns to Chelsea. And if he improves next season and Duranville can stay healthy, Adeyemi, Beier, Brandt and Guirassy together with those two would be a lot of firepower.

  18. Still_Cap_1689 on

Very risky passing on Chelsea’s final offer. Chelsea is the only one really pursuing. It’d be one thing if Arsenal or Newcastle or somebody else were in a bidding war for him, but it’s not that.

Chelsea can always just move to the next guy, we don’t that luxury (atleast not now). The idea that we have any sort of leverage here just isn’t the case.

And even if Chelsea comes calling later this summer, we don’t have the CWC tax to boost the transfer fee. This very well may come back to bite us.

  19. Cherki done for City and Baturina going to Como after full agreements.

The #10 chase is gonna be really interesting.

I still think the possibility of us getting Jashari and not a #10 and trying to lean one of them more forward, since Brandt is staying, is on the cards. Especially if we extend the loan for Chukwu (seemingly very unlikely).

Not a scenario Id like at all, since I dont think Chukwu should stay and we need a true #10 here for when Brandt leaves next summer anyway. But Id love us getting Jobe and Jashari both aswell. Will be interesting. Successfull/unsuccessfull are gonna decide not only how much we cna spend, but what direction we take.

  20. I think something that may have factored into the JBG discussions was that without Can & Schlotti, we’re really tight on CB depth and we may need to revert back to a back 4 for the tournament.

Which would mean we need wingers, and we just don’t have the depth there without JBG, nor the time to secure one at this stage.

So basically, we needed them to compensate us for basically ensuring we wouldn’t be making it past the Ro16.

  21. DiMarzio saying that Milan are keeping an eye on Sule, if they sell one of their senior CBs. Wouldnt mind that sale at all, as long as the price is right.

Sule is incredible overhated and a very needed and valuable piece in this new system. But if we could offload him for an ok fee after the CWC and invest in an even better, more reliable and younger profile, itd be a squad upgrade.

  22. So Martin batrunia just signed for como for 17 million (with add ones the sum will go to 22). At this point I simply don’t know who to sign as our brandt back up /succecor

  23. Most-Management4773 on

Just ocored to me that Chelsea wants to offload Nkunku. What do you guys think about a swap for Gittens? Nkunku was a hell of a player until he joined Chelsea.
