⏳ Lucas Paquetá’s long-running betting case STILL hasn’t been resolved — and now West Ham are stuck in transfer limbo!
According to ExWHUEmployee and now confirmed by national outlets, the FA have reached a verdict… but we may have to wait another 4–8 weeks for a decision!
This means the midfielder, who’s spent two years under a cloud of suspicion, still doesn’t know if he’s facing a fine, suspension, or a possible lifetime ban.
⚖️ Why has it taken this long?
💰 What does it mean for West Ham’s summer rebuild?

I suspect the FA know they are going to be heavily criticised regarding the PROCESS rather than the verdict, whatever they decide. So my theory is that they will announce it a couple of days before the France v England game (5th July) in the Women's Euros. Government's for decades have shown how, if you get the timing right, you can bury bad news and get it completely off the radar.
The FA are berks!
Obviously I could be wrong but this has me thinking he’s been found innocent and the delay is so the FA can get their legal ducks in a row in anticipation of West Ham and Paqueta coming after them
Looks to me he’s found not guilty so the club is in limbo about selling and earning money and they are probably seeking their own legal advice to see what they can get away with 😡
Surely there should be a time limit up on this decision otherwise it can roll on and on, West Ham and Paqueta must take legal action to prevent this happening
I think he will be found innocent and their case is not strong enough to ban him and that’s why they are being awkward with holding on to the verdict.
I feel he probably has done wrong but will get away with it. If he was to be found guilty I think we would know.
Im just glad this is almost over. I hope he’s found innocent and he stays another year while suing the FA 😜. We’ve backed him the whole way
If hearings only ended week ago then FA panel are most likely still considering verdict? Read elsewhere that they work on civil case basis of guilt as in balance of probability rather than you get in criminal case of beyond reasonable doubt. My hunch is maybe FA more worried about how sound evidence is & if Paqueta/West Ham can sue them.
If the case was closed now and verdict not guilty given we would b due compensation could that b used in the transfer window? If however we find out in 2 months not guilty and due compensation then the transfer window is closed 🤷♂️ just a thought ⚒️⚒️
FA are a shambles,I wonder if this is as much against Lucas as it is against us West Ham.If he was at say Man City or Newcastle it would been over in 3 months nothing to see here and move on.The FA hate us and all that are involved with us ref players.
The only reason to delay the verdict is for the FA to consult with their lawyers. This would suggest a Not Guilty verdict and they need their lawyers to fight the cases that both Paqueta and the club will undoubtedly bring against them.
the FA have a duty of care for his mental health which they say they support every year . they have made his life hell and its a kangeroo court ,
The FA are trying to find anyway to get some kind of guilty verdict
Any other verdict leaves them with no credibility and opens doors to massive legal and compensation claims.
Beyond reasonable doubt is only a legal requirement in criminal cases. Most other types of law will follow the "balance of probability" test that the FA is following.
This is normal due process. In my professional life I hv been involved in many arbitrations (in the construction industry) and there will always be a time period between the hearing being concluded and the verdict being given. The panel will need to go away and deliberate between themselves and consider all of the evidence given during the hearing in its entirety before they then publish their verdict at a later date. How long one has to wait between the conclusion of the hearing and the announcement of the verdict will depend on the amount of evidence heard during the hearing and its complexity.
This is consistent with the words used in the Guardian article that you read out. This process is also followed in a criminal trial when a jury will retire at the end of of a trial to decide amongst themselves whether someone is guilty or not guilty.
So unfortunately for us, this is perfectly normal, albeit very frustrating as it’s happening during the crucial summer transfer window.
So I don’t believe this is skullduggery on the part of the FA in this particular instance.
You have misunderstood the words “the trial has been concluded” as meaning they have decided whether he’s guilty or not. It just means the hearings have all finished and no further evidence will be heard.
It's possible they have found him guilty based just on the video evidence, law of probability, and are putting a monster document together to justify the verdict.
8 weeks means after the transfer window shuts , meaning he can't move , or if done before hand , means he/we can't plan nothing , one of the FA panel isn't it ex Sheffield utd owner Kevin mcabe and you know what they think of us already , so that's impartial NOT
This has to be challenged, to treat someone in this way irrespective of the verdict, rings of spite, and reflects woefully on the FA
Three possibilities all not good. 1) Paqueta guilty as charged – discussing punishment and it's legal implications – it's all about power and being seen to administer power. 2) Guilty – but case is very weak – discussing how to stop or fund legal reposts. 3) Innocent, which continues to damage the player by inference and it damages the FA severely financially, so they will want to minimise that damage as much as possible. He is unlikely to be innocent – you don't appoint judges to any court case and then allow room for the defence to wriggle their way free. He was guilty before they even set the court case up, the court case is just to allow maximum publicity to warn others not to try the same thing and then either be lenient and merciful with punishment or heavy depending on whim. I suspect it's answer 2.
The FA could well be finished sooner than people realise. The FA 'Management' could all be hauled through the legal courts and very serious consequences for various people in the FA. ….
I personally think the various staff in the FA have come to the realisation that they are in serious trouble and unless they end up 6ft under…..court dates await.
I think if found guilty or not the way the FA have handled this is very very bad and shows them up for how inept they are .
The FA is so fucking bent they’ll find away to punish him no matter what
Cant wait for paqman to sue the corrupt scumbags.
Has anybody actually asked them why the delay?!
Keep to the 60 seconds Gonzo better format COYI ⚒️
My opinion only but I believe if the FA have found him guilty they would want it out there ASAP. The fact its a waiting game I personally think he will be found innocent.
I suspect they have found him guilty ( but the evidence is weak) so they need the 4-8 weeks to have their lawyers check how exposed they are to being sued, defamation of character etc by Paqueta and supported possibly by the club. If the evidence is that week and it goes to a court rather than a FA process, the FA could be very exposed.
The verdict/judgement has to be from an INDEPENDANT panel. Were this not the case then, in law, the FA would be answerable for attempting to prevent an individual working. Given this alleged "independence", then that body has no right to delay verdict, nor indeed has the FA any right to direct any delay. Can see the FA in very hot water, and furthermore potential being sued. There has appeared to be almost a witch hunt, and heads should roll at the FA for this farce.
We have to grow some ball's and take them to court
Whether is innocent or not this ain’t right they wrecked his move derailed a good player and cost the club a fortune. This started under Moyes and is still going on under Potter.
There was no 50 to 100 k bets it was buttons
Beyond reasonable doubt only applies to criminal charges (and serous ones at that). That is a common misconception. Most often clear and convincing evidence is enough. Sometimes even preponderence of evidence (i.e. more evidence than not) etc.
Lucus Paqueta is innocent.
I would suggest they found him innocent, and are trying to find some bullshity language to wriggle out of it or they're looking for a good lawyer 0a
I’m not being funny, he must have the money to get the best lawyer and sort this
The fa are the masters of mismanagement makes sully seem competent
The process is the punishment.
There'll be secret each way controlled damage deals and NDA's going on as we speak.
