Pep’s ego is off the scale, and he’s more than happy to throw talent down the drain to massage it.
He chose wrong club after Villa but when pep calls you and bigs you up explaining how he'll play you at city it turns your head and it's hard to turn down, he went to win trophies and titles which he achieved btw but thats crossed off the bucket list now and he just needs a regular game in a non pep set up team and winning trophies and titles shouldn't be top of his dreams again, just regular football matches and enjoying the game again. Good luck lad.

Jack Grealish was one of the most exciting English footballers I can remember. He spends £100M on him, offers him a massive salary then turns him into an auxiliary full back. Now he's throwing him on the scrapheap because his weird, de-skilled version of Grealish isn't very good.

Grealish needs to leave City to salvage his career. He's a good player but very restricted to play his game by Guardiola hence he hasn't been good post the treble season.
I have been an ardent fan of Grealish since his electrifying days at Villa but to those saying his stint at City under Pep has dampened his natural flair have to understand that in an underdog side like Villa which pride on counter plays, Grealish could display his skills and run at defenders pedalling backwards. But in a possession dominating team like City built on team dynamics and facing low block oppositions regularly, Grealish has failed to showcase or replicate his defender beating skills so far. The small purple patch he displayed at City has been to the credit of his physical work and positional discipline and not to his "flair".
And with Doku in the fray, Grealish must showcase he has the mentality and work input to start. Simple as that.

Amusing to see Pep get so prickly.. the journalist's line of enquiry is perfectly valid though. Surely the very qualities of Grealish are what attracted him to City. However, the way Pep coaches his players is sucking the life out of them. This contradiction will continue to damage players' careers at the club. It is evident that Grealish is not going to play a big role moving forward, so the best thing for him is to leave. Back to Villa or abroad. Only Pep can spend 100m on a player and then ruin him… oh wait, we haven't mentioned United yet…
