“At Dortmund, second place isn’t enough. The fans expect titles, and we expect it of ourselves. Our goal is always to challenge Bayern and win silverware.” – [Marco Reus 2014] – Where has this mentality gone?

At least the results were strong to end the season. And the stupid defensive errors seem to have disappeared. All we can do is hope this group under this coach can continue where they left off in August.

For me personally I realized something changed when we let Hummels, Mkhitaryan and Gundogan go in the same window. We then struggled with our defense like crazy for a while.
I think about that time the glory days from when we won the 2 titles started being memories and had no effect on where the club was headed. Of course in hindsight I can talk about a lot of stuff.
I personally feel like BVB is punching above it’s weight every year, not necessarily when it comes to our squad , but money-wise (in Europe, not Bundesliga) we simply shouldn’t be able to compete with the “bigger” clubs, yet we seem to show up every year and do quite well.
After back to back titles and a UCL final I guess the mentality was that we belong there every year.

if he said that in 2014 then the context for this is that we as a recent 2 time champion and UCL finalist would go up against a pre-Guardiola Bayern.
Where has this mentality gone? Different times now.

Do we have the same quality of players as we did in 2014? No.
But we did have the mentality to fight back after a disaster of a season and get back in the CL.
Awful post.
