Mikel Arteta says he will make decision on Kai Havertz on Saturday

Mikel Arteta will make a decision tomorrow as to whether Kai Havertz will make his return from injury on Sunday against Newcastle.

The forward has been missing since February due to a hamstring injury.

The Arsenal boss has described the German as “unbelievable” in his efforts to return to fitness before the end of the campaign.

When asked if Havertz could feature against Newcastle, live on Sky Sports, Arteta said: “We’re going to decide that tomorrow.

“He’s done certain parts of the sessions in the last two days.

“He looks in great shape but it’s with the medical staff, the doctors especially to give the clearance, and how Kai actually feels to contribute, if he’s required.”

“Unbelievable,” Arteta added on Havertz’s recovery.

“His work rate, the work that he’s done and also a lot of credit to the medical staff for the work they have done in the last few months. Between them, they have been pushing each other.

“We know how important Kai is for us and he looks in great shape. He’s improved a lot of the metrics that are important for a striker to give himself the best chance.

“You see the transformation on him which is really impressive.”
