DeAndre Yedlin – Shirts and Skins (Full Interview)

Welcome to the inaugural episode of Shirts and Skins. Here, we’ll document the game’s stars, the tattoos they wear and the stories behind them. First up – Newcastle United and USMNT right back DeAndre Yedlin.

“Make sure anything you get means something to you,” Yedlin’s grandmother said of his tattoos. He hasn’t failed her on that account.

Five seasons into his professional career, Yedlin’s body is essentially a mural of a fiery, thoughtful young footballer. His life story, his loves and his passions are penned across his muscular 5 ft., 8 in. frame, and his grandmother’s advice echoes loud across each.

“I was mad nervous,” Yedlin says before getting his first tat.

Well, must not have stayed nervous. Just look at all that ink.
