In today’s news we had the Europa League semi-finals with Manchester United and Tottenham going both securing massive victories. Crazy to think that the 14th and 16th best premier league side are potentially closing in on a major trophy and champions league football.
Meanwhile Antony (the goat) delivered another banger for Real Betis in a 2-1 win over Fiorentina
Chelsea’s new kit sponsor was on display as they steamrolled their conference league semi-final opposition and are Nottingham Forest bottling a top 6 finish?

  1. as an Australian Chelsea supporter, I so badly want Tottenham to win the Europa. An Aussie ending their trophy drought is what we need lmao

  2. Honestly I expected Forest to eventually drop off from the top 4 a while ago, and only now on the final few matchdays are the actually starting to drop off. Honestly fair play to them, what an incredible season they're having regardless if they get UCL football or not next season

  3. The Europa League this season has been poor and United and Tottenham got extremely lucky. Pretty much all the teams other than them who were serious contenders were either facing issues with form (Sociedad and Lazio), giving up on their season (Frankfurt selling Marmoush) or just straight up going bankrupt (Lyon). Roma were unlucky in that they got knocked out of the cup even after winning the first leg against Atheltic Bilbao cause Hummels got an early red that even he apologized for later and admitted was a stupid mistake.
That only leaves Athletic Club as the other serious contender for the cup, which doesn't bode well given the sheer quality that was present the last time in the Europa League.
There's also the fact that the new league format on these European tournaments mean strong Champion's League teams will no longer drop down to the Europa League to compete.

  4. That 2nd leg will be difficult for Spurs. Especially considering the weather and pitch in northern norway. But the 2nd leg will be difficult for United too nothing is over until its over.
