What a clickbait title… Almost 4th place and reached quarter finals Champions league.

1) we lack depth in multiple positions (cb,no 6 )
2) we have many players who are pretty one dimensional
3) lack of creativity
4) signing players who are limited in how much they can improve which has been a hit or miss
5) trying to play possession without any purpose or the fact this team can’t play possession
6) lack of stability and trust within the hierarchy this seasom

some people genuinely be acting like we’re on a schalke trajectory because of some more mediocre league finishes in a row. fluctuations like these happen to almost any club that doesn’t hold a de-facto monopoly for the league title like psg or bayern. clubs like chelsea, liverpool, atletico madrid, inter milan and many more have all had some off-seasons during the last 10 years but ultimately still managed to remain at the top level nationally and same will go for us.

None of the facts they’re stating are wrong, but the narrative absolutely is. We’ve been to a CL final 11 months ago and our bad season is due to 2-3 months when we looked absolutely lost and nothing worked, due to Sahin being a misfit for the current squad. We don’t need a rebuild, but rather small fixes and additions.
I gotta agree with them on the youth recruitment part, that needs to be better because there are clearly talents in the youth team but they need more chances/minutes. Hope Kovac helps with that, although his track record doesn’t necessarily scream “youth trust”

The problem points to the nepotism hiring of Nuri Sahin. We should talk about that problem at the end of the season, and if it is not possible to hold people who made the decision accountable, at least we should reflect upon ourselves.
