On this scale, mental state is everything. His decision certainly created an unwanted trouble in the team. It was better to let Ronaldo play and replace him due to underperformance than just leaving him out like that. Everyone saw what was happening and evidently it didn't play to Portugal favour. I don't know exactly what is the real reason why he chose to leave Ronaldo out, so it'd be to hear from him after this.

I really love Fernando santos he was great. But he took a decision in wc it was some different.
Ronaldo is one of the greatest football player in this planet..His motivation and strength was unbelievable.. Portugal become a famous in football because of Cristiano Ronaldo.. Champ you have given more than what they deserved and also every football fans around the world watch the Portugal match because of CR7 they want to see there legend how to play.. I guarantee without him the Portugal team become a low level team in future..He did his best for his country but Portugal didn't appreciate him..This FIFA world cup his final game they must give him to full of support but unfortunately Portugal management specially Fernando Santos not given chance and even his teammates clearly not given there best support for him to perform his final FIFA world cup. Bad decision from the Portuguese National team management. Santos was an excellent coach, He made had assembled a wonderful and balanced squad. It is so wrong to blame the manager to fail to progress in the world cup just because he did not field a certain player that has past his prime, when there are other young, exciting and deserving players in the team. I pray that Brazil 🇧🇷 hires his services, beats Portugal on their way to winning the next World Cup. It was poetic justice that a certain Leo Messi won the World Cup.

no one else will eclipse his "worst mistake" error to bench the world's greatest palyer during the world cup when CR7 is at his peak in top competitions! Everyone knows CR7 is motivated the most when palying for Portugal and at his very best and then you decide to bench him? I couldn't believe it was happening especially the Morocco game!
