Arzani, Cahill named in 32-man Socceroos squad

Cahill, 38, remains in the frame for a fourth consecutive appearance at football’s showpiece tournament. “He can make a difference, he is a player who will not be nervous to play in front of 80,000 people,” van Marwijk said. Arzani’s stellar A-League season with Melbourne City has been rewarded while Karacic has been plucked from Croatia’s first division at NK Lokomotiva. Van Marwijk said Karacic could fill a void at right-back. “Everybody knows that the right defending position, I don’t have a lot of choice for that position,” van Marwijk said. “He is already the captain of his team, at 21-years-old. “He plays only right-back and we don’t have a lot of players in that position … it’s a position we discuss a lot.” Karacic’s father is Australian but he hasn’t played in Australia.
