Gregg Berhalter left the Borussia Mönchengladbach right back out of his 27-player squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers due to a lack of international experience. Heath Pearce and Jimmy Conrad disagree with the US coach’s decision.

  1. His overall game was more impressive v. Wulfsburg than his goal. Didn't take a bad step all day showing some good form especially with the ball in the air. Easily his best game to date. He is getting close to his national team debut.

  2. The experience reason for not calling Scally is crap. He can only get experience by Gregg giving him an opportunity. Does that mean we won’t be adding any new players to the group without regard to ability and form? This should not be a criteria to eliminate a player of Scally’s quality. It should not be a criteria whatsoever. Not like this squad is full of experience anyway that bringing in others guys that may have just a couple of games under their belt makes us so much better. We would be a better team with Scally. And if you need players to have experience before they can play, then at least bring them on the squad so they observe and train the team to help give them some experience. Sorry, but this seems like Gregg has different standards for players. Before last the last window, Pepi didn’t have any call-ups to the senior team and never, of course, played for the USMNT. But that didn’t stop Gregg from calling him up and giving him a start. And boy am I glad he did. Just shows how we need to always keep an eye open for someone young that is in good form. Scally checks those boxes. Bottom line, he should have been called up ahead of both Moore and Bello. I would be so pissed if I was Joe Scally.

  3. #GregsGottaGo knows Scally should be there, but still chose to omit him. Scally has been incredibly impressive so far this season. He should absolutely be considered over Bello Yedlin and Shaq. Scally can effectively play both right and left back. Also #GregsGottaGo needs to consider Aaronson Hoppe and Weah as strikers, Aaronson more as a false 9.

  4. Just look at his first game in the bunda, playing out of position at LB, had a solid game and held his own against the Bavarian giants that are Bayern Munich a top 5 team in the world

  5. It was pure stupidity not to bring scalley to camp this time. The only way to learn about qualifying is to be on a qualifying roster. Another dumb move and dumb excuse by Greg. And no I'm not going to add the other G he doesn't deserve that at this point.

  6. Scally is just the flavor of the week right now. I don't think it can be considered a "snub" by not getting his FIRST call-up during a critical WCQ window. I certainly understand the coach's position of wanting to lean on players with CONCACAF experience. I think it's a defensible position. Also – we are very deep at fullback – just ask Julian Araujo.

That said – we should be maintaining a 30-man roster for each of these windows, meaning there should be room for somebody like Scally. It should have been thirty from the start – and as soon as Gio and Pulisic are unavailable, they should be replaced. Same with John Brooks. Just letting the roster be whittled down by injury absences is inexcusable. We should have 30 guys ahead of the Jamaica match.
