He divided opinion in the lead-up to the World Cup, but Graham Arnold delivered with the Socceroos on the international stage. Statistically speaking, he’s achieved the most any coach has before him. But is he the best Socceroos coach ever?

  1. Nah, it's still Ange. Arnold worked wonders with this current group's belief but the actual football wasn't great and we rode our luck big time. We won two games at a World Cup where we expected to lose every match heavily – it was an achievement but partially because expectations were so low. There was a lot more pressure on Ange to win the Asian Cup at home and he did it. That's still our only major piece of silverware and shouldn't be overlooked.

  2. There's a new interview with Maty Ryan, who said the fact the coach wasn't replaced before the tournament was a big factor. I've always lamented in the past the we never had time to build a team, we would get a new Dutch guy come right in and start from Zero. I reckon the fact the players were settled and the group were on the same page just shows that this type of performance can be and couldve been the norm. We know Graham is an average coach, but hes not a shit one, and he just had time to bed in the players. European football is more competitive now than in 2006, we shouldn't write off our players if they don't play in the premier league. Craig Foster wouldn't make the Crystal Palace team today.
