New Barcelona forward Luuk De Jong has revealed his excitement at working with fellow Dutchmen Memphis Depay and Frenkie De Jong as well as head coach Ronald Koeman – with the latter having coached him while head coach of the Netherlands.
De Jong was a deadline day deal that Barcelona completed from Spanish league rivals Sevilla after they allowed Antoine Griezmann to return to Atletico Madrid.

“I always had a really good relationship with (Ronald) Koeman and for me it’s really special to go to Barcelona and work with him again because we can always be good together about the tactics because we know each other from the national team of Holland. He told me that he wanted a different type of striker in the team and that’s why he chose me so he can change things in games. People know my qualities and Koeman as well and hopefully it will work out really good together.”

“It’s really nice to meet players I know like Memphis (Depay) and Frenkie (De Jong) because I always had a good relationship with Memphis and Frenkie in the national team of course too. I know Memphis from PSV in Holland and we always played really good together and we showed that a lot of times – also in the national teams. Hopefully it’s going to work out in Barcelona as well.”
