We crash out of the FA Cup

  1. Terrible. From beginning to end. No drive at all to win anything. Essentially a repeat of the Man City league cup match.

  2. Totally deserved in every sense of it. Appalling all over. An unfortunate way to concede the goal to go out, but that performance doesn’t deserve to go through.

As a side note, we weren’t good enough and it’s not an excuse, but the Meadow Park pitch was horrifyingly bad. The ball could hardly move across the ground. Something has to be done for next season, it’s time to get out of there

Liverpool were so good, they were everywhere. Poor DvD, probs worst game she’s had with us.

Highlight of the game was the crowd singing “Whats going on?” during a medical stoppage

  5. Throwing money at your problems is not how you solve them, but you do have to invest in areas of weakness and attacking potency is definitely the main one for us. Yeah the midfield wasn’t great today and maybe that’s gonna happen once every 10 games but the wide play is just uninspired and not special and the team needs to be special to reach the necessary level.

  6. Fucking awful that, none of our players looked at their sharpest, will say the officiating was awful tho, but we didn’t do enough

Liverpool treated it like a knockout game, we didn’t. Fair play.

Crashed out of the cup is apt. It’s not an ‘oh what a shame’ type of loss. The performance and approach to today’s game was simply not good enough. Definitely didn’t deserve to win or even take it to ET. Getting knocked out by a top opponent is one thing but this was a relatively kind draw for us. Given that we’ve underperformed in the last few seasons this feels worse. We definitely can’t adopt a cup games aren’t important mentality

  8. Today was one of those games where Renee‘s hands off style, and her insistence at the players solving their own problems in order to grow really limited us in cohesion and didn’t give us any avenues to respond from initially being punched in the face

  9. The club should already have a list of 1-20 attackers that they want in the summer because I’ve had that list since last summer

I have been following Arsenal women for the past 4-5 years, never had a thought of unfollowing them but now I feel like it’s the time.

Missing weekends for shit performance like this. One or two good outing against Leicester or Tottenham is not enough seriously. I want our team to be like Barca, Chelsea and Lyon.

I’ll be back if we’re on the course of winning anything serious other than the conti cup. Disappointed ☹️

  11. Players were off, tactics were off, subs were off. No drive, no desire. Lotte looked the most enthusiastic player of the day waving a bloody flag.

The pitch is a big issue. Genuinely think it’s cost us today. Despite the players being bad I don’t think Liverpool were miles ahead of their bad day, but everything together means we can’t even nick a win.

  12. dreadful match, players looked like they couldn’t give less of a monkeys about that. weren’t gonna get anywhere with those subs that we made either

  13. Very bad performance. We looked leggy and lacked imagination up front. We were really overpowered in midfield.

  14. can’t say liverpool didnt deserve it, they played with so much more fight and intensity all game. just hoping we can turn this form around and quickly bc i am not looking forward to that madrid game in particular

  15. Surprisingly, I’m not suffering from an epic headloss… Liverpool have been a thorn in our side for some time now, so I had a bad feeling about this game on MP’s awful pitch. Their style of play doesn’t depend on state of the pitch that much. Not to say that it was completely pitch’s fault today, we’ve been shit. It just seems to me that it impedes us from playing through their press and we have trouble adapting, especially bcs they’re so good in the air, so hoofballing doesn’t work as well as we’d like. I believe we’ll be better at the Emirates.

That being said, losing always sucks, but with Liverpool being my black list, it sucks even more. It’s awful being out of both domestic cups, especially when I don’t have a semblance of a soft spot (wink wink) for any team that is left.

  16. Just looked off today. The passing wasn’t very good and we didn’t look like we knew how to score.

  17. While we’ve made strides under Renee, I think this team still has a mental block when things (trophies) are on the line. Too many players don’t show up, make increased errors, or they get rattled and overly cautious.

Defense — Exposed the last two games, especially. Too slow and too apprehensive. Runners carry the ball 30 yards right into the box with no trouble. Need some action in the transfer window.

Physicality — Most of our team is a bit soft, IMO. Katie, KCC, Foord, Russo will get stuck in. LWM will too. Catley, sometimes, as well. Others shy away from contact and it hurts us as we get pushed around. (It’s very evident against Chelsea, in particular.)

Fox — I’d like her to work on her throw-ins 🙂 Kinda weak and indecisive. Also, she barely overlaps and makes runs anymore. Was she told to not do so, so Katie can drive forward while Fox covers? I think we kinda miss that aspect of her threat.

Oh well. Disappointing day. I keep hoping these losses/bad games will be a wake-up call, so maybe this is the one that sticks! Onward we go…

i’m really curious what renee’s plans are for vic if she’s not getting any time yet coming back from injury

  19. Poor from us, not helped by a ref that let the first half get completely away from her early on. Have to say though, it trying to be all toxic positivity but the online reaction when we lose and sometimes even when we win is really grating on me lately.

We’re building something new with Renée and I think we’re moving in a positive direction overall. The team dynamic and play have overall been worlds apart from last season, much more drive and positivity from us that we unfortunately didn’t see today. I think sometimes the fans memories are short and a bad performance is taken as everything about the entire team being terrible. I watched a match from last season the other day and it was a bit scarring 😭

Liverpool really showed up today, wish they’d have chilled out a bit on the physicality and the goal was fluke but absolutely fair play to them. I have way more faith in us than I have in recent years and think we can turn things around if we keep on track.
