Simon is the voice of reality. Southgate is not an elite manager,he has been incredibly lucky, what he is, is a nodding dog for the FA.

Simon is spot on. When we come up against a top side we fail and Southgate gets out thought tactically. He's not totally at fault though, he's not on the pitch. The players need to take some responsibility

Keown, another ex pro with the personality and intellect of a fridge magnet who rarely adds much to a football conversation. Talking 4 and 5 like that nonsense means anything. Simon is right about Southgate but he has done better than so called football people. England lost three games against the strongest teams they played-says it all. Unfortunately, Southgate's weaknesses came through when a real leader was needed. He is too defensive and thinks too much about minutiae. But he got to a final.
Seriously . The last 3 or 4 tournaments have been week . England can get to Semis without meeting decent team ..
