Is it a coincidence he is back in time for Argentina playing? Is Romero that good? Is his availability a problem?
Since he joined Spurs he has been available for 61% of Tottenham Hotspur games but 86% of Argentina games…… coincidence?

I like him but if you can get 100 million from Madrid. You can then go and buy guehi and braithwaite with the money. Yes you will probably have to put 40 million of summer transfer budget on top of that re around 70 million each. However you go from one great CB to two great CBS. Job done

I watched the likes of Ledley King skip training sessions just to be fit enough to play once a week for us and I'm meant to care for Romero, who isn't even half the player, misses most games but is also magically fit for most international fixtures? We should sell him asap

I agree with you totally; Romero is "using" Spurs to prepare for Argentina's matches. It's no coincidence. I don't believe in coincidences. The stats don't lie. I say, sell him and bring in a reliable "Ledley King-type" defender who wants to play for Spurs.
He is good, he’s better for Argentina though because he plays in a more structured system for them as opposed to the chaos and mayhem he has with us. Of course maybe there is that element that he’s extremely patriotic so he’s Argentina > Spurs

He gets a lot of free passes on mistakes, a good centre back….not a great centre back.
Romero first showed he was suspect in the air under Conte, was always being caught under the ball.
Then there are his rash challenges, and stupid forays into the oppositions half leaving gaping holes at the back.
I don't like to say it but I think Argentine players see Spurs as a soft touch, and I don't reckon any of the other so called P/L top teams would touch him due to his lack of availability.
As you say Savva centrebacks are the cornerstone of any team, so I would get rid and get someone who wants to play for Spurs.

I consider his unavailability for Spurs to be a benefit in every respect, other than financially. He’s a liability as a defender. Way too erratic. I’d take the money and move him on.

Absolutely agree with you. And, as much as I like Romero, I really do, I think the best course of action would be for him to be sold to Real M (he wants to go there), get some serious money in and re-invest it. In a world class midfielder. We are fine in defence for next season, with that croatian kid coming in, Denso (awesome!) should be settled fine and that young lad from blackburn on loan now that should be ok back up. To be honest, aside from a superb midfielder (I would gladly trade away Bentancour and perhaps Bissouma unless he is fine with being a backup player) fe are fine in all departments. Bar injuries, our kids will be more experienced next year and there are some AWESOME kids in the team. Spence, Udogie, Bergvall, Tel, Odobert, Tom Hanks MkII, Kinsky, it really looks fabulous. I am actually moderately optimistic 👍
It's not difficult to understand. Like it or not South American players choose their country before their club. It's well known. In this country most fans want the opposite: club before country.
